CompactFlash with V-Synth

3 May 2006, 05:11
I just purchased V-Synth (OS v.2) and tried to format my 512Mb Transcend CompactFlash card (through Trancscend CF/PCMCIA adapter) I used to use with my Fantom-X6 in V-Synth. Got "PC Card not ready" error message. Trying to repeat the procedure got the "Unknown Error" message. What am I doing wrong?

According to Roland, Transcend cards may not work. Please try another brand like SanDisk or Kingston, these always work.

Thanks Art. I'll check this out.

By the way (offtopic), sorry for not purchasing libraries from you as promised - I sold my FX6 (there are reasons). But bought V-Synth. =)

Oh, glad to see you here!

Yes, you will have much more fun with the V-Synth compared to the Fantom-X, although it's not correct to compare these. Do not worry, I am not here to sell my libraries, but to help people out. But should you want a sound library for your V-Synth, check out V-Lectric.

И не забудь, что у нас теперь есть русскоязычная секция ;-)

Жаль, что русскоязычная секция пока такая маленькая. ;)

I know they're completely different - workstation vs innovative synth. =)
Different needs - different instruments.

My "upgrade line" will be as follows - I buy working (this time) CompactFlash card. Then I buy both VC-1 and VC-2 V-Cards. Then I surely buy your V-Lectric. All these along with creating my own sounds (THIS is V-Synth for after all!). =]

Ну дык всё впереди :-)

Yes, VC-1 and VC-2 are two amazing synths as well. VC-1 has an amazing vintage character.

Tried Lexar 80x & Kingston Elite Pro CF unsuccessfully with my Roland VariOS. (with a Type II CF to PCMIA adapter).

Any other recommendations?

ps - how I wish Roland just make life easier for us. I still remember my MC-505 which had to take 5v Smartmedia cards which were much rarer than the the 3.3v ones.

Oops - my fault.
Inserted the adapter the wrong way into the Roland. Lexar, IBM & Kingston Elite Pro all working.

Interestingly, Kingston is rated at 3.3v which Rolands says is incompatible in their manual.
