JV-880 can't handle 16th note high hats?

JV-880 can't handle 16th note high hats?

I'm using my JV-880 with an Octatrack sequencer in performance mode. It's working fine for kick, snare, and pads, but when I try high hats at 128 bpm 16th notes, it struggles to keep up, notes sound loose with occasional skips, and after about four minutes the whole unit either freezes or restarts. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm nowhere near the polyphony limit (it happens even when I solo the hats).

Tip 1. The problem may be caused by the MUTE GROUP parameter for hi-hat tones not being OFF. To test this, set the MUTE GROUP parameter for hi-hat tones to OFF.

Tip 2. What is the firmware version? You can check it by holding [EDIT] & [COMPARE] while powering the device. If it shows v1.00, you might want to upgrade to v1.01.

Thanks, kiskadar69! That was a very helpful answer. It didn't end up being those things (I have the latest firmware and mutes off), but I believe I have figured out my specific situation:

1) I had a bad power supply. I got that repaired and now it's no longer shutting down. That might have been part of the skipping issue as well.

2) I think part of the "skipping" I heard was actually some kind of random panning that is built into some drum patches? I'm still not 100% sure what I'm hearing, but it sounds like the hat might be moving around the stereo field, which makes it sound like skipping in some cases. I'll report back if I ever figure out exactly what that setting is.

Thanks again!
