there are a number of straight 8 port midi boxes, but the best midi box by far is the motu express xt . you can create setups for any amount of cross connect ..and once programmed, no computer is required.

Agree. And the nice thing about the the Motu Express XT is that it does run on external power, so you can use it when a computer is off-which is nice when you just want to play 'straight' from a keyboard into one or more sound modules. I have mine connected from a merge box that merges MIDI signals from my Hammond XK3c and Kurzweil PC3 into a signal stream that feeds into a single MIDI input of the Motu, to whose MIDI outs are attached my three sound modules, including the I7. The front panel lets you choose a "merge all" feature that sends the input signal to all 8 MIDI outputs.

The 8 midi outs look great on the Motu Express XT. If you need that flexibility then that is your product. The Midi Solutions product I suggested only has one MIDI out which may be enough for your application, SparkyCanada, but that is one difference in the two products. Both products don't seem to need a computer to run once they is set up. I have heard good things about both products.

Edit: I was mistaken when I said that "Both products don't seem to need a computer to run once they is set up" as the Midi Solutions product I was suggesting is just a merger. So everything gets sent from all 8 inputs to the one output. Simple easy peasy solution if you are just trying to merge data.

The UM-880 is as flexible as the MOTU and also doesn't require the computer to be connected in order to operate the MIDI Matrix

Paulo, is that a current model? I can't find it on any online sites.

Also, regarding my comment about the Midi Solutions merger, there is no routing on that product so there is nothing to program. It simply merges the data as opposed to the Motu Express XT which also routes the data. As I said previously though, I'm not sure what routing you would need in your setup since everything is going to the Integra-7.

I use an M-Audio MIDISPORT 8x8, which cost about £150 second hand. That, too, can be used without a computer once you've set it up. It's never let me down, either.

I also have the MIDIsolutions 2-1 merge box, which just merges my two keyboards into one MIDI out signal. Doesn't need external powers and transmits on whatever MIDI channel you've set your keyboards to transmit on.
So, one merged signal from two keyboards going into one MOTU Xpress MIDI box, without up to eight MIDI outs going to whatever modules or computer I want.

Thass about as complicated as I gets.

I have each of the parts in the intergra set to the corresponding channel.

Part 1 = Channel 1
Part 2 = Channel 2
Etc...

I am the one using the G8 so in my Live set I mute the internal sound parts and unmute the channel that I need. For example, I use channel 11 through 14. So in the Live set I have all the parts muted except for those 4 channels.
Thanks for the reply. So far I've solved some of my problems, but I'm still having a little trouble. Mainly, if I try to set the Fantom's live set Channels to the Integra's studio set parts. I am wondering if I am just entering the numbers wrong.

For example- on each channel I'll have 85, 00, 1 because I want to play studio set one. I use the pads to switch parts, but whenever I have it set up on a studio set like this, changing sounds causes the integra to go into pcm mode on 000 with no sound selected.

How are you setting it up so that you can change parts without any problems? Could you tell me what numbers to enter into my live set to use Studio Set 1 on the Integra, where hitting the fantom pads (in part select mode) will change the part on the integra, without leaving that studio set?

Thanks so much!

No there is not a current module.
I bought mine (UM-550) online from US three years ago, but I've seen a few 2nd hand ones for sale from time to time.

in the OP's situation maybe a N-to-1 merger device (like the one you mention) will do the trick

You may be sending the Integra-7 Program Change messages that are out of its range.

I use Pad Mode 10) MIDI TX SW to choose which channels are transmitted to my Integra-7. C24kgold may be doing the same.

Thanks, PauloF. That explains why I couldn't find it.

Hmm you may be right JunoJohn,

I'll look into using the G8 without sending program changes. I'll admit I'm a little new to this part of synths, I've usually only owned one at a time. I noticed you replied to my post over on the fantom board too, thanks for all your help with this, I really appreciate it! And I'll try that pad mode as well.

Ok just tried the pad mode and it works FANTASTIC! Thanks again!

BTW sorry to derail the thread a little with that everyone.

I have it to where my fantom does not transmit any Program Change Data.
All that is controlled from the computer system (which we are using Sonar to send patches).
The computer sends the individual patches to the 16 parts in the Integra.
If you get the MSB and LSB for the individual patches you can control the patches from the Fantom.

Great!
Not a problem, we are glad that you were able to make it work.

Liking the Midi Solutions product:

1. No power source required
2. Don't have to worry about burning out a power supply
3. No programming required for what I am doing...
