the purpose of the gearslutz forum is for idiots (and trolls) to gather around and say that analog is the only way to go. It is a shit forum.

I can't believe I am writing in this thread.....

Anyways, I was in Allans music and the SALES assistant reckons roland made a big mistake by the colors, LCD screen and no knobs....Then he said he likes real sounds whilst showing me the kronos.
I thought it was funny he said "real sounds" while talking bad about jupiter 80.....

The jupiter 80 can show you what is possible.
I hope they stop making the jupiter 80 because then It can be my little secret.
I think allans is part owned by music link who distribute Korg...

Still I had a guy at an allans who was quite positive about the Fantom G when I was looking so I guess that evens it out. LOL

I don't know why you guys even worry about the hate towards the JP80,its obvious from the onset that most of the crap posted about the JP80 is the same type of dribble that was floating around towards the Oasys when it came onto the scene, most of those dorks who slammed it,saying its an overpriced Triton probably are the ones who went out and bought the "Kronic" because its half the price and are the same band of blind fools who are doing the same to the JP80(but lets face it I will bet most of them consider the cheaper JP50 but won't admit it)

Its a bunch of numbnut idiots who either

A.think its blasphemous of Roland to use the jupiter badge on anything thats not a remake of such, they put the "Anal"into analog, who cares about the name!

B.Envious haters who can't afford the instrument

C.Are stuck in the past and can't accept that Analog is dead to all but collectors, get over it Roland isn't going to issue a remake of the Jupiter 8..seek out the JP8000 if you still want to cling onto that pipe dream thats the closest you'll get or get yourself something from DSI or Moog

D.Base their opinions on a few you tube demos(which lets face it)are shit anyway and don't really do the JP80 justice at all,Isn't it about time Roland told Scott Tibbs to F**k off now and save his demos for smoky jazz clubs and old farts Atelier organ demos, even his Trance efforts are pathetic and just make the guy look desperate....spend your time in the barbers shop getting your Ponytail cut!! not trying to look trendy behind a JP80 making a lame dance track...bad move for Roland

Give the Job to Ed Diaz....this guy gives more down to Earth and realistic demos..this guys You tube vids helped me see the potential of the Fantom G that i had to demo one in person to see it

I don't care for Analog, and would rather spend my cash on a reliable JP80 that will last for many years, and not just buy it to say i own ...Insert your famous name synth...most of whom are simply justifying the outlay of paying for a limited dinosaur by slagging off the Jupiter 80,i don't care what Roland call it,all I'm interested in is the technology, which is mind blowing and far more inspirational than anything else out there at the moment,I've been able to replicate many of the patches I did on similar VA and its allowed me to have all these patches inside one instrument instead of several, and been able to sell off a large portion of instruments this is what inspires me,along with the superb sounds inside anyway.

I don't really care if it sounds like or imitates Jupiter 8 sounds, the chance for me to compare will never see the light of day,nor do I really give a hoot about the emulation,I have not chosen to buy a jupiter 80 because it may or may not sound Like a Real jupiter,if I wanted that I would seek out a Real one,the JP80 is giving me a new pallet of sounds that inspire me,Roland could have easily called it Saturn or something Its the capabilities of what it offers not its name tag that attracted me to it

As for the Criticism on the the JP80 Again as with the Fantom G,don't listen to the waffle about how its not this or that, make your own mind up,and you may find that its not that bad after all, because I pity all these haters of such wonderful synths like the JP80 because they spend so much time dismissing them that they miss out using such an inspirational Instrument and in the process may find a new level to your creativity,if they find that in an Ancient Analog, good luck to them, step aside and let those of us who prefer digital to do the exact same.

I just don't understand the "hate" feeling for a Synthesizer...(nor for anything else, by the way...)

I still remember a couple of guys that became religious G "haters", that saw everything and a bit wrong on the fantom G, always repeating themselves, saying the same s*... again and again... (maybe they were trying to sell us something, but we were not getting the message LOL).
...and gess what? they are now "religious" Korg Kronos lovers, bashing everyone that presents any REAL complaint about the Kronos, always trying to demonstrate their "superior" knowledge, and putting all others "down"... But let's forget about those "trolls"

All Synths have their positive and less positive items, some of them very subjective (as subjective as the Human mind) and there are so many in so many brands and models that will be almost one for everyone...

From what I read and experiment myself, the JP-80 is a very high quality sound and different type of synth, lacking a few items that would make it a killer yes, but really a landmark!
My biggest criticism being that I can't get one myself, as is actually out of my (€€€) reach :-)

cheers,

+1

While i do personally think the JP80 has some flaws, anyone who listens to the JP80 and cannot appreciate its sound quality really just doesn't have a solid grasp on what the purpose of a keyboard is.... its for making sounds that inspire..... the more inspiring, the more rewarding and the more creative it is for the player...

The gearslutz forum reminds me of the audio forums where folks would nerd themselves into a tizzy of spec-techno-gargle and forget to actually listen to music.
