Roland owns me

Roland owns me

Here I am thinking I'm a fringe player on this forum cos I only own a Juno-G, and then I get a call up for a festy gig in February. It's a doof gig (if you dunno what doof is, just hit your bass kick twice a second and fiddle with anything spacey over the top). It's an easy gig, the crowd take care of themselves with little white tablets - lool.

Anyway, so I have to get a concept going, but my Juno screens broke, what do I do? Oh blow me there's a Roland MC-303 on the shelf there, oh and that concoction of poles and rubber circles is a Roland V-drum kit - hurrah for not throwing anything away, or selling it, 99% of you are like that ain't you? lol

So I'm good to go, 45 minute set sorted within a month, just enough time whilst waiting for new screen, then back to the serious stuff - haha.

That damn Roland - so insipid! You owned me all the time.

So there you go, I qualify as a fair dinkum Roland user, even if it's all covered in dust.

About that Juno G screen thing: I don't know what exactly is wrong, but didn't you ask for a replacement?
If the problem is quite common, didn't Roland implement a program for free replacement of faulty screens?

Only in the US it seems - (ironicaly the place where it costs half as much to fix), but I'm coming to terms with it - no choice it seems - now where's my extra heavy super weighted drumsticks RAAAAAAGH?

How does it cost to fix it on your own? I understand that Roland should replace the screen for free, but what good does it do if you can't operate your synth at all? One way or another, without the screen, the synth is obsolete.

i'll be paying $211AU to buy the screen from RolandAU, and I have to fit it myself, (therefore risking the whole machine, and the $211). I will have no warranty for the new screen. Or I can pay $280 EXTRA to have it fitted with 3 MONTHS warranty.

It's pretty hard to take, but I've been told to quit complaining.

Please give me an official reference for this - I haven't come across proof of this anywhere.
