FG 7 Stock Clearance Sale at Music Store !!! Any rumors abou

looks like the g7 is cheaper than the g6! it's the weakest seller in the us, too.

even so, the eu prices are ridiculous. you could probably buy a roundtrip ticket to new york city, fly there, buy a fantom g at a retail store, fly back and still save money.

Thomann (one of the biggest European sellers) selling rankings in workstation keyboards:

- Motif XS7 and M3-73 on ranks 6 and 10
- six Motifs and M3s (together with cheaper workstations) in the top ten

...
...
Fantom G7 meanwhile down on rank 27!

Spell CUSTOMER SUPPORT in big letters to get to the decisive point.

I have warned several times in here, that over such a long time a more or less unsupported and not convincingly developed product will heavily loose reputation and customer appreciation. But Roland hasn't shown any reaction concerning their flagship workstation over a much too long period of time. This negative signal has reached the workstation market meanwhile. I wished they had chosen a more positive way.

And I'm curious if there will be any life sign at Musikmesse Frankfurt in a few days.

Well done, Jim. You manage to spread those comments into almost every thread, no matter the subject.

"I have warned several times in here, that over such a long time a more or less unsupported and not convincingly developed product will heavily loose reputation and customer appreciation."

Yes, we have noticed that, but don't you think Roland Corp. is a more suitable target?

Yes, agreed, Jabberwocky: fixing the G in big style would bring them back into business, even now, though it will be harder to regain customer confidence.

@Fatbrass: it seems we can only agree to disagree.

From my view Roland needs (positive and negative) customer feedback more than anything to get back on track. There are only two ways for customers to give them that feedback, via local Roland reps and via public forum feedback. I have used both channels over the years and soon found out, that the first seems to be even more futile than the latter.

Since this is the biggest Roland user forum (Roland doesn't maintain any own, like other brands do, to keep in contact with their customers), this will be the most probable place where Roland reps read feedback - IF they read ANY. From some instances it seems they do at least casually.

So I don't write here to provoke you or Art or anyone, but to express user perspectives in a calm, non-offensive, but also clear cut way. And I am convinced that an ongoing problem has to be adressed more than once (not every minute, not to get me wrong), just like everybody of us does in everyday life. Nothing exciting or provoking about it.

The question at the beginning of this thread was, if a Fantom G7 sellout might mean something or not, and it is not at all "no matter the subject", what I commented in this context. Exactly the same counts for the last locked thread: it was completely on topic to comment a question for ARX announcements with a hint on the difference between Roland's publishing politics compared to those of others, which I as customer appreciate for well understandable reasons.

So I think it might in turn rather be up to me meanwhile, to ask politely not to have one of the moderators and/or of the "fanboy" circle to jump on each and every critical remark I write.
As I said: it's not meant to provoke anyone, it's just how I as a customer of an expensive workstation (which I basically liked and like) look at it. I can detect nothing wrong in that.

the Fantoms can be so much more with software upgrade it's kind of a shame really. but in this economy i dont think we can get all our wants in one basket so i just do the best i can using multiple hardware.

i think the G7 is a very good size (and weight since it doesnt way nearly as much as a G8) for the live performance guy. enough keys to do splits.

for me, i need all 88 keys. :p

Jim,

"So I think it might in turn rather be up to me meanwhile, to ask politely not to have one of the moderators and/or of the "fanboy" circle to jump on each and every critical remark I write."

Well, it's pretty tiresome to jump every single time...

Let me explain why I do this "jumping" you're referring to:

I go to the main page several times a day 'cause I like this site. I've learnt a lot in here. Every time there's a sign of a new post, I smile and think "Great! Something new to learn or to download." Can you understand the frustration I (and others) feel when the "new" thing is the same comments all the time? It's a simple question. Can you understand me?

I love it when people moan about what others do by doing exactly the same thing as they are complaining about.

I have no problem at all with what Jim posts but what really annoys me is when I come here every day expecting to read something new that Jim has posted and then some fanboy jumps on his back moaning and complaining with the same things over and over against him.

Do you understand my frustration at reading your same rants against Jim all the time ? ;)
Whine whine everywhere and not a drop to drink ;)

The thing is that any moderator or fanboy has just the same right you do. So, to jump on you is as natural as when you jump on Roland in any thread with your warnings, feelings about Roland or with what you think Roland shoud do or not. As much as I apreciate your knowledge and experience it becomes, in fact, tiresome.

I think you already had the time to understand that none of "these" moderators or fanboys is actually able to help you on your needs. In fact it is really strage that you think this is the biggest Roland user forum but at the same time question yourself if Roland reps read it. So whats the use of keep saying the same thing over again? Not only this is against the Forum rules but also, again, is tiresome.
(Roland doesn't maintain any own, like other brands do, to keep in contact with their customers)

Have you tried THESE?
So can you adress your concerns over there and keep just your knowledge and experience here?

Hi,

I called several music stores in germany (triggered by this thread, just wanted clarification). They all said that Roland Fantom G7 IS DISCONTINUED, it will not be produced anymore!!

Roland will continue to sell G6 and G8 as long as there will not be a new product, and a new product in this category (workstation) is definitely NOT ANNOUNCED for this year, just as well Yamaha and Korg didn't announce anything for this year (Korg will promote some new entertainmen keyboards at Frankfurt Musikmesse).

So, if this is not a simple promotional "gag", everyone who wants a G7 has to decide a bit faster maybe. But this gives also hope, that Roland will continue support at least the software and maybe we can expect something new concerning ARX.

That's what they said. These are neither my words nor is this my opinion.

greetings,
tastenmann
