I still have that Problem so working with the 808 is not easy :(

Recognized that it sometimes work for some minutes with the fadertouch - espacally when i controll the 808 Faders from my Sequenzer.

Maybe this could be a software problem ?

Before i thougt that it must be a problem with electricity or the power adaptor...

This Problem is driving me cracy

hi Zolo,

same happened to me when I moved my studio to the basement. the faders didn't work anymore. it took me ages to figure it out, it was all about electrostatics, like a current leak. the problem was gone - now it comes - when i touched the leg of the table where the mc808 was standing upon with my hand or leg!!! try to disconnect everything (like main out, usb, etc...) and look if it works then. then reconnect your devices one by one. for me it was a lexicon omega that the main out was connected to. they didn't get along with each other. maybe you need to shield or ground your setup, but i am no expert here.

Hi zolo,

a german roland technican told me that it was added with later models to prevent humming and sound interferences with the computer. Also the power supply was changed with later models because of causing instability.

If i were you i would call roland support to get help.

Ciao, Dirk.

Calling the Roland Support was the first thing i tried...They couldnt help me.

Its very strange here.. Sometime it works and then suddenly (without changing anything) it doesnt work anymore.

I found out, that the fadertouch don't work anymore if i turn on the light in my room! Sounds like a joke but it isnt...

Zolo

Hi Zolo,

from which country are you? In germany there was a power supply model with 3 power contacts that caused some sound problems through a ground loop (Masseschleife in german).

In germany a simple test is to cover the ground contact of the plug with some plastic band and then see if the problem goes away.

Maybee this could help.

PLEASE BE AWARE, THAT HAVING NO GROUND CONTACT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IN CASE OF A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC DEVICE!!

(But i dont think that this must apply to the mc-808)

Ciao, Dirk.

Hey Dirk. Yes i'm from Germany, too. Maybe you can explain it in german again, because i didn't really understand what you mean. Unfortunalty - i guess - here is no possibilty to write privat by using pm or something like that.

Greetings Zolo

Sorry guys, for switching to german ... My english is just not good enough to explain this thing :-)

Hallo Zolo,

Ciao, Dirk.
Well your English is better than my German. Heck, you English is probably better than my English.

Hi Dirk.

Ciao, Dirk.

Does this mean every time you go to play live with the MC-808 you have to worry about the faders not to responding to touch?
I ask because in a live situation you are constantly thrown into venues with funky electrical systems. Do you have to bring a midi controller with you in case the 808’s faders stop responding to touch? Is there an easy remedy like using a non grounded adapter or a direct box? (that’s what I normally do in a dance club)
Thanks,
John

I'd carry a tester with me. You can get one that'll plug into the receptacle and tell you if the ground is there or not. Also, I'd bring a power conditioner.

i believe this problem has something to do with proper grounding of the equipment.

faders on my unit stop recognizing the touch after
either
A) i connect 808 to the laptop with USB cable
or
B) i touch both the fader and the alu top cover at the same time

any other positive solutions except power conditioner?

i use one, and i plug both 808 and the laptop into it. it has internal ground loop tester and the ground LED shows there is proper grounding present.

thanks.
