Re: Just bought SP-555, will we see an SP-888? in Grooveboxes · 26 May 2008

Yes, I agree - it does seem that the MV-8800 is the new SP-808 - but sadly, it seems a massive step here in the UK where the SP-555 sells for £359 and the MV sells for £1349, which is a step up of £1K. I know a few peopl...

Just bought SP-555, will we see an SP-888? in Grooveboxes · 19 May 2008

Hi, I recently looked for a portable sampler, something that I could take around with me and that would be useful in my set up and decided to get an SP-555 from Gear4Music in York. I really love it. It reminds me of gett...

In the UK, it's available... in Grooveboxes · 2 Aug 2007

...towards the end of August / start of September and has a list price of £410.07 and a street price of around £379.99! That's quite a lot less than I thought it would be, as I was thinking more around £500.

Re: Roland releases new sampler: Roland SP-555 in Grooveboxes · 31 Jul 2007

I thought that the USB audio feature was cool (being able to sample right into the machine from whatever software you're using), and I hope Roland decide to port that idea over to the MV-8800, as I'd quite like to be abl...

Hey Doug! I agree with some of the things you've said, but he SP-555's actually pretty cool in some respects. I saw the new SP-555 videos on Roland US and (even though I have an MV-8800, as you know), I'd still think abo...

Re: Worried about MV8800 in MV-8000/8800 · 26 Jul 2007

Yes, there were updates that needed to be done to the original MV, as upon release, it was not ready, but they still added more to it at a later date than it was able to do in the first place, so my point is still valid....

And the award for the company that uses no marketing tricks goes to... ...erm, no one because just about every company in the world is guilty of it. My advice to anyone would be - do your homework, check the product out...

Re: Worried about MV8800 in MV-8000/8800 · 22 Jul 2007

Lets get a few things cleared up here shall we? First of all, Roland did NOT lie when they said that the SP-808 has eight tracks, it does, they are just linked together as four stereo pairs, if they weren't, each sample...

Re: Worried about MV8800 in MV-8000/8800 · 16 Jul 2007

Well, from my experience, I can help. I have owned the SP-808 (paid £949), SP-808EX (paid £1049), MC-808 (paid £799) and now own a MV-8800 (paid £1,499)! With regard to the SP-808 buffer issue, I never had this problem o...

Hi Doug! Glad you like the list. It is about time for a machine like this and it is said that Akai are working on an MPC4000 replacement (they took the 4000 off list just the other day and have given the last 11 made to...
