Audio panning work-around to bypass Leslie sim pedal?

Audio panning work-around to bypass Leslie sim pedal?

I have a MiniVent which really makes the FA08 tonewheel organs sound good. My problem is I had it modified with a remote switch and now I can't bypass it.

I typically run mono into a mixer and then mono from there. I don't want any other sounds to go through the MiniVent. I figure I can pan my Hammond sounds dead left and everything else dead right but then I lose the right signals in the mixer output. I don't want to run stereo out of the mixer.

It sounds like a job for the Sub Out, but I understand that that doesn't respond to the volume knob.

Any ideas?

Thanks & Regards,
Joe

Are you playing single sounds at once? or multiple?

i.e. did you want the FA to be feeding out a drums/bass to one source, and then the hammond through your cab sim?

Or will you be playing the hammond only (with cab sim), and want to switch to say, a piano, without cab sim?

In terms of using the LEFT/RIGHT channels you could do it (for example):-

Roland FA LEFT OUT -> Mini Vent -> Channel 1 Mono/Left of mixer
Roland FA RIGHT OUT -> Channel 2 Mono/Left of mixer

Mixer Output Mono/Left -> Speakers

Surely that would work? Your mixer would be doing the job of treating each input as a mono source then, and you just need a cable which comes out of the FA which goes to stereo pairs/or separate cables that you can plug into separate mixer channels.

Why not using the sub outs for the Hammond and controlling its volume via a dedicated volume pedal (an analog one inserted between the audio out and the Leslie sim)?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm not even sure under what music/gig scenario I would need to do this because I use an Electro. I guess if the Electro had a problem....

I like Ski's answer. Why didn't I think of that? And the volume pedal I think is a good idea.

I'm kind of fascinated with a one-board gig solution but I never have the guts to try it! Also there is the problem of the FA08 action for organ playing...

The MiniVent really does a nice job on the Tonewheel sounds. It softens them up and tames those shrill highs.

Joe

You can checkout to use the assignable knob (via expression) or user volume knob for that organ part.
