New keyboard from Roland???

Come on, don't be grumpy.

I thought the JP was a great step forward, and I love the way it sounds.
If Roland has decided to use the same supernatural engine as the basis for a new workstation I will be very interested in it.

Anyway, we should know more soon when Roland puts up the teaser and the countdown is set in motion (again).

jupiter 80 a big step fwd ?? Mmm... Duhh. But , maybe you were refering to the silly price tag , lol.

Anyhow, if roland will release a new workstation it will surely not be killing the jupiter80 capabilities (just for the believers...) or what kind of pricetag would you give the new workstation if it has jupiter 80 capabilitys, even real polyphony... Still like that one... And a sequencer , sampling, arx , of no lets skip arx ?

Nah, i don't believe this compagny ,

Given the lack of interest by roland on the Gs future i think we are kinda lucky we got this far with it on the OS..
Its still not complete but its not going to become obsolete anytime soon regardless of what comes next..
it has alot of things going for it
  • Its a Great controler and sound device for DAW and VSTs

    RPS is just magic

Three different modes make it very flexible for any job

Projects allow you to customise for all situations

Sampling give you the unlimited sound possibilities

In the box DAW allows for direct clean digital track productionI

Its a perfect fit to any External DAW setup.
Even if they do come with another workstation its price point is going to hit the roof unless they drop the price of the JP80 to so they can bring it in under $3000 and
Unless its a Major step up from what a G+computerDAW offers
I dont see the G as something to be abandoned anytime soon.

In order for Roland to sell from their last lackluster product slump, Roland must provide something truly ground breaking in their own right. The days of having a flagship synth without an internal HD or large Flash Memory storage are over for them. This is Roland's last try to get it right, otherwise they could suffer severe lack of big sales, from greater competition from Yamaha's next generation flagship synth to hit the market in a few years. Roland must provide some kind of analog modeling synthesis built in or a new analog synthesis board to complement their next generation synth.

Roland has alot of things to get right with the next workstation .For me I love my fantom g but i wouldnt be buying the next workstation cause of their lack of support for the G.Ill be moving on to the Kronos.which has better support .Thats just my opinion.

I really wish the Fantom G had more flexible FX routing. Sometimes it kills me.

But still it seems that you are pretty much alive, Leh!
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger :)

"well 2.0 update may just well be it for our existing FG"

At his stage of the game dont expect it..
there is not enough they could offer and if they could would not do so because this would infringe on any extra offerings then may want to include in some if ever future workstation.
they have nailed them selfs in to a corner with regards to the G..

Not offering a progressive upgrade to 2.0 has killed all future confidence in roland from the Fantom /G customer base.

and to offer anykind of update badged as 2.0 would be too little too late especially if it did not make some kind of leap in that release. but once again they cant to as fear of killing any potential sales of a future workstation..

but by not doing it they kill the likely-hood of any such potential sales too..

The only real choice for them now is long term investment to get back their customer base and that would be

Release v 2.0 and it would need to a be a killer release to breath another year or 2 back in to the G
This would then set the stage for them to bring back confidence and release something fantastic in about 2 years that there now regained fans will eat up..

As of right now they dont have this fan base for them to offer any new workstation.

I don't imaging there's any chance of a 2.0 for the G now. The success of a new Roland workstation will simply depend on how good it sounds and how well it works, regardless of what has gone on before IMHO, but yes us Fantom G users will look at it thoroughly before buying to make sure the same mistakes are not made again. The G is great but it should have been the greatest.

mmm... so we all now Roland is not supporting their products, don't give a sh.. and is laughing behind their customers back. Nah, I'll be buying something else.

Look I am as baffled as to why they dropped support on the G as anyone else, especially as the V-synths got a 2.0 as did the Fantom X and now Jupiter-80... but I doubt they deliberately don't finish stuff so they can laugh at us while twirling their moustaches saying "Suckerrrrrs!"

mmm, they should have implement fantom x capabilities anyhow.
(Solo button in mixer pages, MFX1 to MFX2 routing in studio mode, i would expect ARX B3, Piano, ... what about the EQ in the resonance effect block (dissapeared ?) , hold filter not working properly (no workaround when using external keyboard)....

All small things, could have been implemented in os 1.x.

Baffled, that sounds like the correct word

Yep I agree. And a sophisticated "Import Sequence" and "Import Multisample" function. all those things we just described is all it needs!
