My smartmedia drive not working well on my S88. So opened it up see what can I do.
I just unplug and plug the flat cable my smartmedia drive work!

I would say the component is quite easy to access. The feel of PCB is not bad, those PCB quality comparable to those sub $1000 audio equipment. The Opamps are embedden not easy to change. Capacitors can be change. It is using medium grade ENLA capacitors If got the time, I got want to change to Audio grade Nichicon caps.

I am quite disappointed about power supply. switch mode and cannot change voltages.

can you explain about capacitors a little im not sure what you mean. do you have any photos of your s88 open I would love to open mine but not sure where to begin

Ok. I mean the capacitors on the outstage(Both pair of L&R ouput) can be change. Probably the easiest thing to change. The opamp can also be change but must be done by skillful techician.

To open up the S88, remove all screw from the bottom. Let the keyboard sit as usually, I mean the keybed facing up. Both hand hold the both side of the keyboard. Push a bit away from you. The top plate will come up. Don't let go, slowly flip the top plate away. I put it against the wall, so that I don't stress the cable. All PCB are attached to the top plate so be careful.
