Midi Time clock vs. sympte

Midi Time clock vs. sympte

I am interested in getting into film scoring and I was wondering if when I do, I'll need a computer program that runs SYMPTE. Can the MIDI time clock on the fantom x replace it? It has a section for HOURS, MINUTES, SECONDS, and FRAMES. If so, can you describe, just very briefly how it works. Thanks,

Wudsiba: You're good with The midi time code in your Fantom X. Midi time code actually IS smpte represented in midi form. You have the essence of how it works already because you mentioned the Hours - Minutes -seconds - frames. The clock that runs in tandem with whatever music and/or video you put with it makes it possible to synchronize multiple devices together. All the machines must receive the same clock information and they all stay on the same page so to speak.
I use it to sync my keyboard sequencer with my Roland VS recorder so I have midi tracks and audio tracks all running together - it's great.

I do the same thing as slargthorb, but I use midi CLOCK to sync to my Yamaha hard drive recorder. Everything stays tight. I realize this is of no help!!! The yamaha can do either MTC or CLOCK....I went with clock because it's easier for me :)
