V-Synth

V-Synth ?

Hello all, as a Fantom-X user I would love to add a V-Synth to my arsenal but with the latest topics about V-Synths becoming harder to acquire I'm wondering. Is Roland getting ready to scrap the V ? I dont want to get one now then have a newer one come out and the older V loses its support from Roland. I've been looking at a V for a long time now, just having some thoughts before making the purchase. What do you all recommend I do, get the V now or wait till after NAMM ? BTW dont think I can wait till winter NAMM lol.

Music is an expression of self, the expression of the soul. Be creative it's source is unlimited, however evey now and then your brain rains in and poops all over everything thus limiting this great expression of self.

Hi Vintage Chyld.

I had the Fantom-X first and added V-Synth over a year ago myself. I'm very happy with it. I don't think Roland is going to eliminate the V-Synth line, though they may "upgrade" the current V-Synth model. I wouldn't worry about support though. There aren't many bugs that I'm aware of with the current OS (2.0) on the keyboard model. I think there were one or two bugs in the XT model, but Roland released patches for those (version 2.01 now I believe). My point is that, other than warranty, I wouldn't worry about support as you probably won't need it like you might on a software product or a computer OS.

One of the reasons i got the V-Synth (other than its unique sound tweaking ability) is because I believe the V-Synth will be considered one of the milestones in synthesis evolution just like the original Fairlight CMI, Minimoog, DX-7, and D-50 were. I wanted a piece of synthesis history.
