Wierd Bug in V-synth

Wierd Bug in V-synth

I dunno i tapped into hell or something

i took osc1, loaded DLP-flip hop into it (drum loop)

took the time made it as low as i could

then increased the pitch as high as i could

then i reached hell, i could mess with the time a little bit, but it kept snapping back

SOMEONE plz tell me what the hell happened, again this was just 1 pcm waveform built in

here is a demo:

I thought that sounded cool as shit. I hope mine does it too!

small records can make big sounds

Incredible!

At first, I thought there was a trick... as did recognize the VOC:LatinPhr sample played in reversed direction. I then gave a try myself starting from an INIT PATCH... the same results here! There is a ghost in the machine. What a finding! :-o

Awesome! What a cool sound! There's a whole world of stuff going on in there!

Gotta try this for myself

i tried to do it really slow in the demo so you guys could hear what i was doing

it works with almost any of those drum loops at the beginning of the pcm list

1) start with init patch (if you want)
2) turn off everything except osc1 (if you want)
3) make the oscilator in osc1 DLP-FlipHop
4) turn time all the way to left so its playing the drum loop really fast in reverse
5) turn the pitch all the way to the right so its really high pitch

Presto insta-wierdoness
Heh, sounds like there's an 'off-by-one' error in the code or something, so that the extreme settings cause the V-synth to trip past the end of the specified sample and spill over into all the other ones. I love bugs like that :-). I hope they don't fix it!

(Of course, it's little overflow bugs like this in network code that let all those nasty worms do their dirty work on the 'net...)

I've caught some pretty cool sampler overflows like this with my ASR-10 after it would crash on a certain sequencer bug... the machine would hang but the DSP would just keep spewing out a cycle over whatever samples I had loaded at that point. Made for some good serendipitous ambient loops :-) Then again, I'd lose my sequence too...

Good find!
