Its sick but I personally wouldnt sell my X8 to get it I just learned the FX and I'm sure that I'm still not even 65% deep into it yet, learning a new synth is killer , makes you feel beginner all over again which sucks IMHO.

The alesis and korg are perfect timing for me, as is the X audio expansion. I've been looking at getting a 61key/76 key synth action board (but refrained from buying 'cos nothing really complemented my X8 - it did most things better) and setting up a DAW for a while and it still really costs (VS2480 = £2500 - STILL - minus any serious effects power - total cost more like £3500 once fitted out) - these boards (X8 and either korg or alesis) will complement each other perfectly and be totally self contained giving me all the functionality I need - It's just gonna take so long for them to get here.......

That monster makes sense if you have buckets of money waiting to be spent.

The idea is great, but taking into consideration ergonomics and upgradeability, you're better off working with a synth and a computer (laptop, desktop, tablet pc, you name it).

Example: TouchView graphical user interface, 10.4 inch TFT, 640x480 dots, adjustable angle. Laptops nowadays with a 10.4 screen offer at least 1024x768 resolution.

If your keyboard becomes obsolete, you upgrade it. If your computer becomes obsolete, you upgrade it. Heck, if your monitor becomes obsolete, you upgrade it. What happens when that big monster becomes obsolete?

Another thing to consider is downtime if that thing ever breaks... If my computer breaks right now, I've got a laptop to replace it. If one of my keyboards break, I'll replace it with one of my rusty-but-trusties.

Don't take me wrong, as I said before, I would love to own one if I had all that extra money (cuz I'm sure that mutant isn't cheap), but that would not be my first choice of a DAW-synth combination. Let's see how much it costs.

Anybody remembers those laptops that had a printer embedded on the bottom? :)

Bisi - sounds yeah - absolutely - heard the korg demo and didn't like first song, but thought both sounded professional. Alesis demo not up yet - contacted support - he pointed me to http://www.sonicstate.com/ to see if anything gets put up.

Mexcico - upgrading anything still costs - and in the end we're looking for quality of sound - if it's good you'll never tire of it - I'm certainly not tired of my X yet and I hope I never will be. Yes, I'll have to make some compromises about the DAW spec. that I wanted, but all that functionality of both boards can't be ignored. It's the cost/benefit ratio at work. And now it seems we're in a hardware renaissance, the hardware seems to be getting incorporated in all new boards, it's then a question of giving them decent functionalty and software - those who do this best will win.

From what I have seen so far I like it. I have not seen a MSRP yet but I don't think that I need to because last time I checked I had not seen an MSRP of two penny's, a dime, some lint and an old used up Kleenex and that is all that is in my pocket right now. :)
Unfortunately with something like this built on promises of future growth this growth is entirely dependent of how it sells. Hope it sells well because I would like to see all that this thing could be in the future.

Thanks swandiver! Count me out. I am not saying that it is overpriced I am just saying that it is priced over what I am willing to or could even pay.

YOIKES!!!! Is my first reaction - and that's in the US!

Surprised about only $500 difference between 88 and 76key - this will mean virtualy everyone will buy 88 key version, it's in a totally different league to the extreme, ES, X - apart from early fairlights and synclaviers, anybody know of a keyboard costing so much.

I'm so dissapointed...
It had all I wanted, but no way I can afford that.
It will be close to 12 000 canadian dollars.
Instead I'll get:
- A new iMac G5: 1700$
- A used Karma: 1200$
- A V-Synth XT: 1800 ??? (Anyone got any info on this ?)
- The new pcr-30: 200$
- A couple of software and an audio card: 1000$

All that for HALF the Oasys price, and I don't have to buy it all at the same time. I'm out on this.

At last, I'm part of the gang !
No longer part of the gang...
