Trigger sample from keyboard

Trigger sample from keyboard

8 Sep 2026, 11:45
Hi, can anyone help - I’ve sampled a wav file in Logic Pro and have it on usb stick. I want to assign the wav file so I can trigger it from the keyboard (from a single key) rather than a pad (I find pressing the pads not always 100% in triggering!) - I know how to import it to a pad but when I try ‘import to keyboard’ I get lost as I’m not sure where it tries to assign it as a tone - so I don’t know where to select it and add it as a tone in the zone view…it offers a “destination tone” setting (defaults as 0001) but I can’t see where that tone is stored or how to find it in zone view - appreciate any help guys cheers

Keyboard samples can be imported in two different ways. You selected the path that combines two steps: It imports the sample and saves a Z-Core USER tone (destination tone) that uses this sample.

The Fantom has 2048 slots for Z-Core USER tone. When you import a sample, you have to select one of these slots. The import process will overwrite the content of the slot. Make sure that you select as destination tone either an empty slot (INITIAL TONE) or a slot that you want to overwrite.

After the import, you can select the tone in zone view. It works the same as selecting any other Z-Core USER tone, and there are many ways. For example, select the zone and press the category button USER twice. It will open a tone list view with all USER tones. Use the first encoder below the screen to scroll towards the end where the Z-Core USER tones are.
