Roland fooled me again

Roland fooled me again

I know, I know, fool me once, shame on me, fool me again - Roland.

I just got a P6, and it was ticking all the boxes... then I found the unbelievable limitation that means I now hate it and regret buying it.

What's the limitation? There's way to select the "current" sample pad via MIDI.

Program change messages on the "auto" channel are completely ignored.

I can change pattern using program change messages but that doesn't change the active sample.

It has to be deliberate. There's no way something this basic was "overlooked".

Yeah they don't always make the instruments the way you might like. I would basically have to load the entire Drum kit into the Daw as a plugin, then assign the midi to each of the drum types in order to get drum per track recording. It doesn't have the choices in an Audio driver which I would have hoped for. i think it does work thru USB as audio but that's not working for me because it actually has more latency than just the audio cables so I can play thru the daw alright but not thru the daw and whatever else is needed to bring it from that USB which would require a different setup to get easily into the daw.
