Juno D missing features

Juno D missing features

Juno D is a fantastic keyboard. Really. I have a Juno D7 and the sounds and the keybed is way better than Juno DS 76.
But still I miss the DS features:
where is the free editor?
Where is also the midi import into the sequencer or drum pattern?
Where is the output gain?
Where the sample editor?
Tones: I can't find a sforzato brass!

It's a wonderful product, but it seems to me that it has reached the market when still in a immature status.

Hi Joelfan,
I'm a recent owner of a Juno-D6 myself (after selling all my Roland gear a few years ago...), and I have to say that IMO is not an immature product, but rather an entry-level one, so missing some features from its bigger brothers (Juno-X, Fantom-0).

- The feature (if we can call it that) that I miss the most compared to what I had previously (Fantom-0, Integra7, V-Synth XT, etc...), is the Editor/Librarian, as that would easy a lot the programming process.

- Regarding the Drum patterns, it's sad that they can't be sequenced and only used as a reference, but we can always record them on a DAW and work from there...and in that case we can play them as MIDI and record them in the sequencer as an external source. The only limitation being 64 steps per track (1-8).

- What do you mean by "where is the Output Gain" ? Are you referring to Part Levels inside a Scene, or the Overall Volume? I´m not getting exactly what you are referring to...

Take care
Cheers

Hi, I completely agree about the lack of certain features, and I don't think it's because it's an "entry-level" synthesizer. The DS line, for example, has an Editor and Librarian; it wouldn't cost Roland anything to use that as a base to provide us with suitable software. My old and beloved Juno G had a master gain control in the Menu; it was really useful. Another issue is the inability to import SoundFonts converted to SVZ.
The other missing feature is the ability to save "Patches" as favorites, not just "Scenes." With only 128 user Scenes and over 3800 sounds, it's ridiculous!
I think Roland hasn't given this product enough attention.

Internally/architecturally (as well as in terms of the sound set), the Juno D is really a scaled down Fantom/Fantom-0 rather than an enhanced Juno DS. The Fantoms likewise have no full editor/librarian (unfortunately), instead only allowing tone creation/editing via Roland Cloud (with no facility for scene editing). And the Fantoms likewise require tones to be put into scenes before they can be added to favorites (which the Fantoms implement more flexibly as scene chains). Like the Fantoms, if you need to get around the 128 Scene limit (which is 512 on the Fantoms), you have to use USB sticks.

Load EXZ010 - Big Brass Ensemble. (Same as on the Fantoms.)
