Anything new from Roland at NAMM 2026?

Anything new from Roland at NAMM 2026?

Do you expect anything new at NAMM 2026 about the Fantom? New update? New ACB expansions? Or even a new Fantom? Personally, I do hope for at least a cool new model expansion or firmware update (incl. a librarian for example) :)

Somehow I still (silently) hope that there will be an update for a somehow linear sequencer in the Roland Fantom (EX), with better copy/select options etc. Just for the sake of the fun of producing on a stand-alone workstation.
And yes I know there is little to no chance that it will happen anymore ☹

I recently bought the Fantom EX 8 because I had reached my savings for it (and obviously its capabilities) but I feel some of the disappointment with you... how can you call it a 'platform' if it is stuck for several years, and the updates that are there, contain none of the features many want for years now.

Sure, multisampling came to it, but where is the crossfade loop editing? No linear sequencer? Sure I can do that in DAW, but when I want to take it local I can't even record it because of step limits...?

I owned a Fantom X7 and regret getting rid of it because it felt more complete. Also the whole cloud/DAW thing is nice and all, but that does not mean you have to abandon the hardware focused users at this price point. Again, I'm happy with it and it is a very nice instrument, but I really expect something more than an EX update soon...on the same platform!

Well, no news about the Fantom at NAMM 2026 :I However, still thinking about purchasing a (used) Fantom, maybe to combine it with an AKAI MPC whatever and/or a TR-8s. And then just accept the Fantom as it is, no more hopes and needs for future updates, just having fun with this about 80% perfect instrument. No one´s perfect ;)

I can understand the replies.
I also had the Fantom-X(7) in the past and also regret that I sold it (with 4 SRX-cards !), that was to me a real stand-alone workstation !
Only 'problem' at that time was the workaround I had to apply to make smooth sound-transitions when using it at live band-performances.

Nowadays I have the Roland Fantom and I kind of surrender/regret it, mainly the sequencer-part, but I also realize it's just a first-world problem. Should be grateful for being able to buy the Fantom anyway and also have the possibility to still use it connected with Logic sequencer-wise.

I did however find somewhere (on Youtube or here, don't remember) some tricks to be able to implement (drum)fills etc. in a practical way etc. in the sequencer/grouping. I think I will search for them unless someone already knows where I can find it.

Aside the fact that a modern workstation such as the Fantom is still ful of not well developed parts (mainly sequencer and sampler) a librarian woul be fundamental, but Roland is deaf. We should avoid buying Roland instruments again.
