Generic windows driver
1 Nov 2024, 19:04Hello,
Since i was unhappy to maintain a virtual machine to use the legacy roland driver, I modified "https://github.com/alf45tar/mustang-midi-bridge-win" and I've implemented a basic user mode driver for juno-g.
The driver make use of libusb driver that can easly be installed with zadig.
The driver works on my windows 11 pc - 64 bit.
Requirements:
- loopMIDISetup_1_0_16_27.zip (https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html)
- vmpk-0.9.0-win-x64-setup.exe (https://sourceforge.net/projects/vmpk/files/vmpk/0.9.0/vmpk-0.9.0-win-x64-setup.exe)
- zadig-2.7.exe (https://zadig.akeo.ie/)
- Install loopmidiSetup
- Install vmpk, start it then. edit -> midi connection --> output midi connection --> loopmidi port
unzip the attachment
- install zadig --> option -- >all devices --> choose juno-g from the list --> choose libusb-win32 --> press install driver
unzip the attached file somewhere, start a Command prompt window
Now on the command prompt:
Output Port #0: Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth 0
Roland V1 USB device found Vendor ID: 0x0582 - Product ID: 0x0003
Now when you press a key on the keyboard you should hear the sound reproduced on windows using the windows software wavetable.
If you press a key on VMPK you should hear the sound reproduced on the keyboard.
I plan to clean up the code and release it. Maybe in the future I could optimize it a bit and add more feature.
After this basic setup works, you could try to use other midi software.
Please let me know it it works for you...
