External Control of Jupiter-X?
1 May 2022, 09:49I've posted a bit lengthier message on this back in December 2021 and never really got a response, so I'm going to try again and maybe make my question more coherent. Can one control the entire scene on the Jupiter-X via an external sequencer (in my case a Fantom-X7) on a SINGLE dedicated MIDI channel? If the keyboard switch is set to ON, you can do this, but it unfortunately causes the Jupiter-X to sound off on any and all MIDI channels on which it is receiving data. It would seem a fairly simple matter to do but I can't find anywhere in the setup menu a place to specify the desired MIDI channel, much in the way you can on something like the V-Synth. I know you can control scenes remotely with keyboard switch OFF, but as scenes take up to 5 separate MIDI channels, it's really a channel-hog, so to speak, and it also seems to nuke the arpeggiator function when you do so. I've gotten as far as a Roland tech support guy calling me about this but he didn't seem to have any more idea than I about how to do this and I've never heard back from him since. If any Roland folks are reading this PLEASE pass on to your software guys that this is a feature that would really make life simpler for incorporating this synth into a chain setup like I have in my studio. As it is, it's a lovely board with a deep sound set, but next to useless to me if I can't control properly via external sequencer in performance.
