Dial Issue FA-08

Dial Issue FA-08

16 Dec 2021, 11:34
I need Help Please. My Dial (Wheel) isn't grabbing my User groups or Presets like it used to. It skips by some and makes me back dial over and over again to lock in my User or preset choices. Is this a Dial (Wheel/knob) replacement issue ? or Is this some Dial maintenance action I need to take (dust inside of it or dirty sensors inside need cleaned ?). Not sure what to do but its delaying moments on stage for me, very frustrating, need it fixed ASAP. I've used it allot since 2016. or could it be something else. Also, what might it cost to have the Dial replaced if I need to.

Appreciate any help or advice as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Dave Miller

Hey Dave,

Yepp, sounds like something is wonky with the Dial's contacts inside that it's not reading each notch/turn correctly. You can always try a bit of compressed air around the edge of the dial to see if some dust is the cause underneath. I have no idea the cost of replacement, would need to reach out to roland or a local music repair place for that. This is the first I've heard of this so hasn't been widespread enough that this is a faulty manufacturing deal.

Don't know if this is helpful for you in the meantime or not, but you can move through the sets with the DEC and INC buttons to move down and up one by one. You can also store favourite sets in the Favourite Banks... this way if there is a gig you're playing at, you can add the needed sets to a Fav Bank and just select each as needed without needing to scroll through them.

Good luck!
