"Super Rookie" quick FX question...

"Super Rookie" quick FX question...

4 Apr 2021, 09:36
Hi guys,

Is it possible to have multiple FX settings (one for each part) in one Studio Set?

For example, I have lead in Part1, strings in Part2, drums in Part3 and so on for the 16 parts in Studio Set, but I want to have a distortion just for the lead (Part1).

thanks!

There are 3 fx options:

MFX:68 effects and anyone can be applied to any individual track/sound. One Multiple effect per tone. Some of the pre-set tones already incorporate use of an MFX setting, so you may have to choose wether to use the one incorporated in the pre-set tone setting or change it to use the one you want to specifically use.

IFX:Anyone of the 92 Insert Effects can be used in any one Studio set. You can only select one and then you have the option of adding it to just one or selectively to multiple tracks. This effect can only be used IF YOU DO NOT USE THE MASTER COMPRESSOR. If you use the Master Compressor you can not use an IFX effect.

TFX; The TOTAL effect can be controlled in real time using the SOUND MODIFY knobs. You can choose from 29 types as appropriate for your needs. It does however apply to all tracks at once.

Thanks for the summary, but I confess I'm having trouble understanding how to have individual FX for each track... if I understand your input, I'll have just 1 effect per track individually? if yes, if I have to add 3 FX to a track I'll have to use the entire studio set for one track?
tks!

Lets try this one step at a time.

Select any studio set you have. Make sure your screen is showing Studio Set Play.

Highlight the selected Tone on track 1. Press Shift and the button under EFFECTS EDIT at the bottom of the screen.

Then press the button under the MFX option at the bottom of the screen.

This will now take you to the MFX PAGE. At the top of the page it will tell you what MFX the designer of that tone selected as the default setting to get to the sound he/she wanted.

This highlighted selection will have a number and a name e.g.. 36 : 3 tap pan delay. Now you can use the main rotary dial to change it which ever one of the 66 you require. e.g. 29: Distortion. It will also have various options below that you can manipulate to get the change you want.

You will have obviously lost the benefits of whatever MFX the original setting added to the tone. But you can only have one MFX with each tone and each track.

If you are happy with the new tone and its MFX you MUST rename and save the individual tone BEFORE you do anything else, otherwise there is a good chance of loosing your modified tone. You will also need to save the Studio Set and (if applicable) the Song itself.

Saving the modified tone/renaming it will let you select it again for future use in other sets or songs. Take a little time in selecting the storage number for your saved tone so they use the next USER number thats blank in number order, or they will be all over the place.

See how you get on....

tks buddy, so I understand we can have one individual FX for each track (MFX) plus Chorus and Reverb that are set for the Studio Set for all tracks.

Yes, one MFX per track.

In respect of Chorus and Reverb you can select one type of each for the whole Studio Set but then select how much of each track you send to Chorus and/or Reverb.

Have fun. Let me know if you want help on the other 2 FX options, when you are comfortable to move on.

How can I record the real time controlling into a sequence using the FA sequencer. Turning the knobs during record does record some control messages but it doesn’t turn on or off the TFX when I play back the sequence. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi again,

The TFX effects are for live use only and don't record in the sequencer.

Unless someone knows otherwise....I haven't tried to do it though but think not.

Yes I think that's correct, you can realtime tweak the TFX but not record. Strange really, one good thing about the FA06 is that you can record/overdub controller changes pretty well on it....but not for the TFX

But TFX Works too for the "Input" on Your Voice, or Instrument and that Permantetly
on your Sample you have Record!!!

That is not Bad too...so you got a "Insert" for your "Input!"
