Ok, this is probably going to sound really angry, but ***** I'm tired of people asking "WHICH IS BETTER?!!?!" -- all I'm going to say is

PLAY THE DAMN THING YOURSELF we can't give you what you'll really think.

Well said that man!

"Some musicians have a physical block, some have a mental block, while others have a wooden block". Unfortunately, I'm in the 1st category!

Ok, so I think I go it now. No Roland bashing & no pianos. Anything else?

I don't know about you, but some of us don't have all of pianos out there at our disposal.

Where I live, I have to drive for hours just to try one of them.

For the most part, I basically have to buy based on specs, what I observe, and peoples' opinions.

I enjoy piano discussions. It helps me decide what to order.

I just ignore & don't read threads that I'm not interest in.

You're tired? I'm tired of people who try to control what other poeple talk about.

We're not censoring you... we're simply pointing out that buying equipment based on other peoples opinion is pointless and simply invites disappointment. Peoples opinion on what something sounds like is too subjective to base your purchasing decisions on. I would think the fact that there are completely opposing views on which is better bares this out. Person A says "Yamaha piano sounds will create world peace" and "Roland piano sounds are the spawn of satan", Person B says "Yamaha piano sounds will make your arms fall off" and "Roland piano sounds will heal the world". Who is right? Who cares! Go listen to one yourself, download audio demos if you can't get to a shop and choose the one that sounds best to YOU. You are, of course, as free to argue that A kicks the crap out of B as we are to point out the discussion is pointless.

Please note: the above quotes are fictional and any similarity to quotes living or dead are simply co-incidental ;o)

I'm also tired of people who try to control what other poeple talk about. Comparing piano sounds is all I am interested.

It's just getting tiring seeing thread after thread asking for piano comparisons... if you can't play the board then hunt down or request audio samples. If me advising people to decide for themselves is controlling, then something is loose in the head. Some things you just cannot go by another's word, you might be dissapointed.

Yeah, but which is the the best sounding piano? ;-)

While you are at it ...

Can anyone TELL me which is better ... Coke or Pepsi (it's too much trouble to go to the store)

... and please recommend a good girfriend and/or wife? (too much trouble to actually go out on a date or anything like that)

Wow. I want to live where you live.

You must have shelves and coolers loaded with all of the latest keyboards down at the corner variety store. And it sounds great to have all of the latest keyboards just waiting to be 'picked-up' at the local singles clubs. Everyone must be an experienced piano expert.

You're lucky you have so much abundant access, and don't need to bother any online folks for some insight.

Saying that buying a professional piano is like buying a can of coke is just plain stupid and ignorant.

Well... the point is people buy a piano if they like the way it sounds and play. You can argue which is which and which is better the whole day and it is just a waste your time.
In here, people are discussing only 3 brands. In reality, dozens of digital piano brands out there, that doesn't count different models and specs.
Buying a digital piano is just like picking a can of soda, in real life.
I don't mind picking a 'wrong' can of soda based on someone else's opinion. Hey, I DO mind bought a $2000 digital piano which I don't like the sounds and fell simply because of an "expert" opinion.

I have to agree with BB. I am from a rural area. We have a music store, but his business is so small, Roland will have almost nothing to do with him (I've been waiting more than a month to get a cable that's been ordered, but still not here). Our nearest city is an hour away. This is where I bought my FS. They had about 8-10 different keyboards/synths from about as many manufacturers which allowed me to compare makes; however, they had only one Roland (the FS) which did not allow me to compare models by Roland. The nearest city to give me the option of comparing several makes and models is 3 hours away and that's just to the edge of the city. It's another hour just to get downtown to the one store that I know that deals with keyboards/synths. I've been there and I am sure that I must wear a sign visible only to the employees that says "country hick - do not serve or acknowledge". And, then, to make matters easier re listening to samples on the computer, high speed would be nice. Dial-up can be painfully slow and often the only option in rural areas.

On every message board you have the joy of reading gems like this.

I don't understand why it's too hard for you to skip over a thread if you aren't interested to read it?
