Tr-09 Prices

I’ve been keeping my eyes out for a used tr-09. Prices seem to be getting nuts. The cheapest I can find is $550. I wish they’d release another run of these. Anyone know if they will?

They seem to have retired several of the early Boutiques, but the series isn't done, as evidenced by the new TR-06! Maybe interest in the new drum machine will draw folks away from the 09 and prices will drop (though I understand that are two different animals).

In any case, really happy to see more Boutiques!

Thats insane, and there's no reason for it other than collectablity.

A second hand TR8 or new TR8S will give you EXACTLY the same sounds and lots more functionality, and although its not well known, the TR8 can trigger out from the rimshot in the same way as the TR9!

So unless you really, really want to pay the extra for it's retro/toy town looks (and reward these chancers charging over the odds) then go for a TR8/8S a great unit and much better value

That's not entirely true about the TR-8 and TR-8S being identical sound-wise to the TR-08/TR-09.

I had thought the same thing: Why would anyone pick a 08/09 over an 8 or 8s?

I read that Roland did further tweeks to the 08 and 09 to make them even closer to the original.
So while the 8 and 8s do have the 808 and 909 sounds, the 08 and 09 reproduce them better.

Still, it has to be nuance to a large extent. Minor. The truth is however that the 08 and 09 are closer to the originals than the 8 and 8s.

On one hand that's cool and on one hand it's a crappy thing to do. Depends on which you buy and what you really wanted to do with them. Value-wise the 8 is the best, power-wise the 8s is the best, and absolute precision to the originals the 08 and 09 are the best.
In the end, crafty Roland wins again...... "Gotta catch 'em all".

I know people are going to complain about it, but I think the limited runs on these boutique series repros are great. The form factor is amazing, and they seems to have taken great care to reproduce the feel and sound of the originals.

That said, keep checking Reverb for TR-09s. There was a decent looking one to be had for $500 last week.
