LFO rate won't sync with tempo in slave

LFO rate won't sync with tempo in slave

18 Jul 2020, 19:45
Hi, I'm probably missing something simple. I have an MPC Live and Roland Fantom 6. I'm sending MIDI clock to the Roland Fantom from MPC. The issue is the LFO / step in tones will not sync with the tempo on MPC. I'm in slave mode in the fantom with local switch off. If I take the fantom out of Slave and into master, change the tempo to say 150 bpm, then go back to slave the LFO rate stays in sync with the tempo I set it to in Master (150 bpm). Sync Output is On and System Clock Source is USB. I've tried changing those too. I'm trying to figure out what is going on. I've tried everything I know of. Thanks for any help.

So it looks like the effects don't sync either which I think is the main issue. Thanks

Do you have MPC 2.8? You have to turn on all 3 options in the sync settings of the MPC: Master, Control and Track on USB Port. And are you sure you have turned explicit sync on at MPC?

Hey thanks for your reply! I've tried everything I can think of. I do have MPC 2.8. I've tried messing with settings in MPC and Fantom. Fantom is in Slave mode. System clock source is USB. I've double checked the effets to make sure they are set to sync to tempo too. These are pictures from the MPC.

I have another workflow and I just make some settings for example project and the Fantom is perfectly in sync with the Fantom.

Thanks so much for your help. It seems to work now! Although I really didn't change anything. I read somewhere devices need to be playing? I think maybe the piece I was missing was I had to hit play on the MPC for the clock to be sent? It seems the tempo of the LFO or effect only changes when it's playing? That doesn't seem right though.
