Jupiter X controls and midi.

Hi,
I'd like some advice on the Jupiter X.
Is it possible to use the sliders to be able to control an external device, vsti or DAW? As I have tried numerous attempts and I have not managed to get any of them to work. I've looked in the manuals and the only one that seems to mention anything seems rather vague, unless you connecting to main stage. Or I just missing some simple step? I can't even get it to connect to Zen core on the roland cloud which I would have thought it would at least be able to control some of the instruments as I'm sure I saw something advertised that you would be able to connect to Jupiter series with the cloud based instruments?
Secondly if i use I arpeggiator, If you change the rhythm or pattern it stops playing? is there some setting I am missing to stop this from happening.

kind regards
Angela

The Jupes apparently were not designed to be an external controller, other than the keys and few assignable wheels and buttons. The focus is inward, mostly on real-time controls for the ASMs.

Most controls will send sysex if Edit Tx is On (in system), but the sysex sent changes by model and edit mode.

The iArp does not play through rhythm, pattern, or scene changes.

A few thoughts on mapping the Xm as a master controller:

1. Since the controls always affect the current scene or zone, you will want to use a part that is not active internally for external control, then be in Tone edit for that part. Otherwise, you are affecting all part offsets (if in scene edit), or the active tone (if in Tone Edit). For example, Part 4: Mkb on, MKb Midi Channel as desired.

2. While part 4 is off, you want to select a specific model in the part, so the control assignments remain consistent. I would recommend a XV5080, since that seems to have the greatest number of knob assignments. Again, you need to be in Tone Edit for that part.

3. (a) Go to the reference manual, look up the page titled “correspondence between controllers an parameters” for the XV5080 in Tone Edit.
(b) Look up the midi message for each of these controls in the midi implementation guide.
(c) Build a translator from this message to your DAW required message (Bome or similar tool)

I said it could be done - did not say it was easy.

System:
Tx Edit = On

Part:
Mkb on, MKB channel as desired
XV5080 model loaded
Part selected for edit, in Tone edit

Thank you for your reply.
To be completely honest that is way more work than it's worth.
I hope they manage to change this in future updates, As this would take it to the next level, I would think most musicians these days have some kind of home studio which I imagine this is where most of the sales go too. But sadly, going on my experience with Roland and how bad they are with supporting any equipment after what they consider the life cycle, compared to other companies. I do not have much hope ☹ But I presume this sums up my relationship with Roland equipment Love/Hate.

I'd rather just buy a DAW controller for around 100€, than mess around with a synth to kind of do that.
