MV8800 Audio Track sync?

I'm finally getting back to using an MV8800 after being away from it for several years. I apologize in advance if this has been covered but I couldn't find a definite answer during a search.
I'm going to record some long guitar audio tracks, probably about 4 or 5 minutes or so. I remember there being a timing/sync issue when I tried this a while back but I don't remember what the fix was. I remember long audio tracks (not audio phrases) going out of sync with MIDI tracks (metronome).
Can someone suggest a solution to this issue?. Does this have something to do with the BPM sync setting? and how is that applied? Before/after and audio track is recorded? My MV is version 1.01
