Help with Jupiter 50's Wurly and EP sounds

Have you tweaked the EPs on the JP50 to sound better and what did you do to get a better (clearer sound)? They sound muddy to me, lack the definition I'm used to from playing a real Wurly 200a or my, now sold, Korg SV-1. I really miss those crisp keys!

I'm not that great at sound construction or editing yet on the JP50, any tips or advice to get that "more" authentic sound?

As far as Wurly sounds go, think: Supertramp (goodbye stranger), Queen (best friend) and KT Tunstall (other side of the world)

Thanks all!

I am more into Rhodes sounds than Wurlys. That said, I have tweaked up many of the EP patches on my J-50 and really like the results. But you and I could be listening for much different things - I don't care so much about faithful reproduction of sounds - I just want sounds that are musical and inspire me.

In any case, you can start by adjusting the Tones that make up a Live Set. For me, much of the tweaking I have done has been with the effects - EQ, chorus, reverbs, delays, etc. I love everything from fundamental sounds with no effects to those swirling in delays.

The J-50 gives you amazingly detailed control over effects - the parameters themselves, how they are routed, and how each one is applied to each of the individual tones. I have never seen a synth with so much control.

So I don't have an answer for you, but you're probably going to get inside the thing and do some twiddling to find what you want. And effects - especially EQ and reverb - or lack thereof - could play an important role.

The rhodes sounds are near perfect. I was able to go in and get the Wurly 200 sounding a little better with some MFX work. But it just doesn't have that reedy punch that I'm looking for. It will do in a pinch though. the SRX12 card I put in the Juno Stage has two Wurly sounds that are phenomenal and I decided to keep the Stage, so that takes care of it for me. The JP50 has such great sounds otherwise, the supernatural piano is amazing!

Thanks to you Keybrwizrd and Tnicoson both for looking into this for me!
