Howard,
We are getting there. Best the pianos ever sounded. Putting in alot of time. Big difference tweaking when plugged into the PA system. I have noticed that my electric piano has changed in that I really have to hit the keys hard to play all parts of the patch. somehow the velocity was changed and I can't put it back the way I had it. Any ideas. I am not going to restore my backup from 2 weeks ago. I have too much accomplished and I don't want to lose it. Otherwise, things are great. I have really learned alot. Any ideas please let me know. I am taking this to the gig on 2/9.

Oh, I'm glad you are getting better results.

I want to understand something here, are the presets messed up as well? I assume you have user patches with your custom velocity settings but what happens when you play the presets? If they are also causing you this problem then perhaps you must have adjusted more than just the patch velocities and we need to change those things back. What is your keyboard sensitivity set to on the Keyboard tab in the System menu?

Howard,
I will check in the system settings tonight. I do not remeber fooling around with anything in the system settings. 1.) I simply dial up a preset. 2.) I modify the velocity as you said and then save the patch to the user area. I have done 8 new presets this way with no problem. I don't think anyone else messed with it. I have been leaving my gear at the studio because setting it up and tearing it down is a pain in the neck. Is there a default setting for a system wide velocity. If there is I didn't mess with it.
By the way, this patch I am talking about is an Electric Piano that I took from a 5080 using the librarian software. I hope this does not matter because it is the best Electric Piano I have. I don't know how the velocity got changed. Everything else is the same and OK. Thank You Howard for your patience. I will owe you dinner when we are done.

He he. Sounds great. :-)

As far as that patch, you can retrieve it again through the librarian software and see if it functions better for you. Which patch is it?

Can't remember off the top of my head. I will check tonight. Thanks You.

Howard,
Not sure I am looking in right place for System Wide Velocity setting. Also I noticed that the Mastering on/off setting drastically changes the mid range value of all performances. We had to adjust the mid range in this section for it destroys the sounds that we have created. Everytime I turn around it's something else. Best of all, I am learning how to deal with it. There are just too many settings on this thing!!

Forgot the electric piano patch name. Sorry, I will get the name to you. This is the only patch I am having an issue with. It is off the 5080.

Well, if we are down to one patch then it is not a system wide issue so we dont have to look there. Just for your reference, you get to the system wide keyboard setting I was talking about by hitting Menu, System, and then going down 1 tab to the Keyboard tab.

Ain't that the truth. There are a lot of settings but as you work each one out you discover lots of possibilities. The editing features on this keyboard are so deep. That's why I kept the X and didn't bother with the G.

Howard,
did the gig 2/9/13 with new programming. almost there. did gig 2/16/13 and I am getting the hang of it. Saving everything to a mem card and comparing. Takes alot a time. Thank You for everything. I know I will have more questions. By the way, have you had any experiece with the new module, Roland Integra-7. I am going to sell my Yamaha Motif XS and look at the Integra-7. I paid 1200.00 for the Motif and I will never use it. Thanks Again.

That's great, ken6370. I'm glad it's all moving in the right direction.

I do like the Integra-7 although I dont really need one at this point.I do like the SuperNatural stuff but you already have the pianos on your RD700NX, and I have one as well. Which brings me to a question here: why are you playing pianos off the XR rather than the RD700NX. I find the sounds on the RD so good that live I often just use the internal sounds on the RD for horns and many other sounds.

Howard,
I played the last 2 gigs with a Roland midi accordion. The Fr7x connected to my Roland FantomXR. I was in and out in no time. Played bass with my left hand. No bass player. Playedpiano parts with left hand also. This is the reason I needed all the programming help. What a crazy instrument. The controllers are incredible.

I read that in an earlier post of yours but thought that you meant that you use that in addition to the RD. Wow, that does make for a faster setup and easier on your back. I am doing one set of a friend's gig this weekend and for the type of music I am playing on that gig I like to play standing up. Rather than have to bring a separate rig I decided to pick up an AX-Synth and will use that for the gig. I only need to play bass for one song as the bass player is going to play add a third guitar so I will play bass on a keyboard he will already have at the gig. I am also looking forward to a quick set up and tear down although I am thinking about bringing my SonicCell and triggering a few sounds from my FCB1010 pedalboard. We'll see if I end up adding that.
