I owned a Kronos AND Actually I was not trying to start an argument..I was stating that I couldnt believe someone(mojokarma) would "defend the problems" reported with the Kronos as if its OK to have those problems! Especially since he doesnt own one!! My opinion FWIW... and yes to me it is far inferior in build quality to the JP80..and the build quality complaints on the Kronos far out number the non-existant build quality complaints of the JP80.

Yea no problem Kev ,I'm a fan of your post btw they keep me honest . The Motif gets a bad rep from synth geeks because that say it's a rompler and synth geeks usually dislike so called rompleres but the motif is so much more than that .
It is a pure tool for song writers who want to complete and finished songs . The Arp's are so sweet and musical the guitars are amazing . Many pro artist know's this .Paired up with a JP-80 and supernatural I think is very powerful . Now Karma 3 is among us giving it even more power .

I am blessed to have own the best from Roland , Yamaha and Korg ,and I can truly say that they all have there good points but there is something special about the Motif XF it sounds so dam warm .The JP-80 is from another world ,with all the layering if you play 1 minor 9th chord it can melt in your heart .
Korg is great too , specially for creating your own sounds but I don't like what they did with the Kronos but this is very sensitive subject .

PS . some synth geeks are cool !

I don't gig but what you say about SN does make sense - I use the JP-80 for studio work only and either in the balance or the arrangement or the playing (or any combination thereof) I can make the SN subtleties be heard.

I disagree however with comparing the JP-80 with a workstation (or any workstation)! Of course the workstation will win - each and every time. My OASYS is 7 years old and it beats the JP-80 on many things - BUT they are built to be different machines.

I'm not sure about your vibrato question - but I'm going to explore and see what's possible and get back to you :)

From my exploring, I see that aftertouch is assigned to System control #2 for SN acoustic tones - which is vibrato.

So SN acoustic tones have vibrato assigned to aftertouch as the factory default.

With Synth tones, vibrato can't be assigned to aftertouch - only cutoff and level can be. Whilst vibrato can't be assigned to aftertouch, at liveset level, vibrato parameters can be set - including vib delay. I know this is not aftertouch triggering but perhaps your livesets can be adjusted to have vibrato settings which bring the vibrato with the right rate given a fixed delay?

You can also assign a control pedal to control the vibrato depth in system settings.

So you bought one?? Hmm..Seems really assinine that anyone..except you..would buy a $3500 keyboard ..and then say that it "Sucks Big Time" afterwards?? Mojokarma didn't need to buy a JP80 to "argue" with anyone. He's been doing it here in the Jupiter forum since Day 1. Funny enough he shells out $3500 for a JP only to complain about synth vibrato AT (notice he didnt mention it was mapped in SN instruments - thanks Cello for confirming) and now complaining about "build quality" yet has no real specifics. He wants everyone to know his "gig", which required some 400+ patches, any of them might need to be called up without any advance warning. Suddenly he can use a Jupiter but according to his backup singer doesn't sound good enough and everyone jumped in claiming it was a piece of shit.

Oh yeah that's totally believable!

So please stop trolling if you actually owned the kit maybe you'd have something else to say other than parroting haters on other forums.

Whilst its understandable some have other synths in their rig but....

Yet again another discussion about ROLAND synths seems to drift off towards the Fecking Kronos and its Lame Build or quality issues.

The Fantom G forum is ravaged with it,and its seriously boring now!its no wonder this forum seems to suffer from the Tumbleweed moments!!

Is Roland so blase that only other brands can maintain decent discussions these days!

Can we save the constant Kronos reference or comparisons/Quality issue waffle for Korg forum users!

I'm in the process of waiting for my Jupiter 80 to arrive,but beginning to wonder if anyone has anything positive to say about it without referencing the Korg Kraposs,its no wonder Roland seem to lack the motivation to support their products like the Fantom G when the fanbase can't seem to be bothered to talk about anything else but this Kronos

Thanks for bitching but you aren't exactly contributing to the Jupiter discussion either. I agree everything seems to go back to Roland vs. everyone else, right now it's Kronos. Summer namm will bring on all new comparisons. Hopefully something interesting to debate besides build quality or clonewheel tones. Its easy to kick a man when he's down...constant complaints about the sound of the Jupiter organ or parts falling off Kronos just before it reboots mid-gig is getting old.

I haven't contributed in this forum,mainly because I have no hands on experience of the synth other than a few shop demos,I have been researching my purchase before commiting,but have been reading with great enthusiasm from users who have,and its thanks to those that I made my mind up to go ahead and buy one.

Sure when I've had a little time with the Jupiter when it arrives in the next few days I will have some views and opinions on it,rest assured they won't be a constant comparison to the opposition,If I want to hear the problems with them or what it does that the Jupiter doesn't I'll look to the various other manufacturers wealth of Forums.

It just seems apparent that people would rather compare the two and discuss faults with the opposition than talk Jupiter80 and pick upon its finer and more relevant details
