Thumbs up for the Di - A review after 2 months of use

I have to say this keyboard is just about perfect for my needs. I'm a new keyboardist and it's been perfect to play songs with and learn with. The USB song player is a great way to learn new songs and makes the learning process great.

The amount and quality of sounds makes the the Di fun to experiment with. I've not delved into the editor and don't believe I will. I actually stick with the default grand piano 99% of the time.

Being light weight and running on batteries is fantastic. My next goal is to start playing some songs at a local retirement home. I have a friend who plays acoustic bass and guitar there and it's a good way to get some performance time in while sharing it with people will enjoy us coming into play. The Di is absolutely perfect for that situation. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well anyhow wanted to write a positive review because I want to make sure that Roland knows that people do appreciate the Di/Gi lines. I like how they made the Gi in the same form factor as the Di. That way one can upgrade to the Gi and not miss a beat with the same keybed size and basically the same keyboard with added features. Hopefully they do this for future models in the Juno line.

Excellent message from one Ohio beginning keyboard player to another. I have the Fantom G and the GAIA and they both are fantastic. I am just a newbie to keys only knowing the basics but the Chord memory function is a fantastic tool and it makes you sound like a pro.

ha...I never played withe chord memory but just did now. The only thing is every key becomes a chord memory. So how would one integrate in that into a song? meaning I would think if a sub section of the keyboard did the chord memory then you could utilize them but also play normal keys on the other section.

It's not like you can just keep doing the chords over and over and nothing else and it sound good would it? I guess maybe if your backing a song.

Also how does it work with the chords down the keyboard? meaning how is do the chords differ form one key to the next?

I am not sure on the Di but on the Fantom you can make them minor or 7ths, or 4ths, via a pad bank. I hope to be going to a music store today or tomorrow and will try out the chord function on a Di.
