I have to totally agree. Just got my Gi today and I am stoked!!! Been eyeballing it for a while.
The Gi has over the Di: more sounds, better sounds, more user performance buttons, a new and more professional interface for live--with splits, layers, performances up to 4 sounds how ever you want it in one live user preset, and a new and classier screen. No more layers in limbo so to speak. This is all before even mentioning the added features in which this keyboard was designed to do differently; all for $300 US more.
About the sounds?
Great organs and leslie effect!!! This is a first for the new Junos. It helps having a button to activate the preset leslie that is for sure. I think one can even control the swell and the speed as well with a pedal and the other performance button; just wow! The piano and synth section is far superior; good but not great synth editing however.
Sound quality is only rivaled by the Fantom G in my opinion.
Vocoder, aces as well.
Guitar effect and reverb separate from the synth effects, very cool. Also a Boss recorder built right in for a great sketch pad.
Bad-- Tricky DAW interface with Sonar.
-- No seperate to drummer click for live recording to go with playing.
-- Wish the sounds would switch smoothly like on the Fantom G.
-- Wish it had aftertouch and full size keys for better synth action.
For $1,000 you can't have it all, but I prefer it to anything in it's price range or lower despite the savings that might be had. This is including the herald Korg M-50.
Thanks, and nice to meet everyone finally, DJ RAZZ
