Help Needed!! recording appegio into track

Help Needed!! recording appegio into track

22 Jan 2010, 06:17
Hi Fellow clan members, I'm really struggling recoding a track with an appegio I know there is something basic I am doing wrong but for the life of me I dont know what.

The Senario,

I am trying to record a song, I have laid down drum track on parts 12+3, I then want to record a appegiated bass sound on track 4. I have previously done this and when played back appegio was working fine. After listening I decided I was not happy with the take so I cleared the track so I could start again.
Now a problem occurs in that when I go to re-record the track, I go through the motions, ie, press appegio button, move cursor to desired position in track, press record and set to wait note, now as soon as I press my first note, the appegio button unlights and no matter how many times I press it or start again with the appegio button lit, it automatically switches itself off and will not play any appegio on that track.

I've been messing around for ages but can not get the appegio button to stay lit to enable me to record a track with app running, What am I doing wrong?????

Any help greatfully appreciated..

P.S.

Have even tried switching on and off the keyboard and appegio switch in the studio mixer but still no joy

Regards,

Lee

well...the arpeggio switch should allways be ON and cannot be set to off (it will allways appear on a certain MIDI channel and you can decide where you want it. But to make use of it the arpeggiator must be activated).
I'd say to check out if the arpeggio switch is right on the midi channel (part) that you want to record. If you have the bass on part 4 then the arpeggio switch must be on part 4. Also press arpeggio and eventually hold shift + arpeggio to select different types of arpegiation. I would advise to switch the arpeggio's key trigger to ON and then record.

well, this is a long shot but....
As you propably know, the Fantom records everything you do with it. Maybe, just maybe, you have pressed the Arpeggion button to turn it OFF while it was still recording. Every time you start the sequencer it plays back this Arpeggio OFF "command". This would be recorded as a sysex message in the sequencer. Look for something "weird" on the Microscope or just delete every sysex message there.
