Turn users away

Parsifal I find normalising doesn't help. Sampling adds a lot of top end frequency and transients but kills the life out of kicks, so freeing up FX by resampling doesn't help me..

I have heard the expansions but they still dont have those modern sounds I need. I have come close with my own patient endless hours editing.

Another amazing sounding softsynth just out is the suboscar2 and fxpansion dcam synth squad.

I think my gripe is there is lots on the board but the most important basics a producer needs have been heavily compromised - for example the inability to add compressors and limiters to several strips each with own settings.

I do resample my own claps etc to get them sounding much bigger and more dynamic.

TRANCEHAK, you are saying like you have walked into every studio of every club music producer. Especially in the times when $200 softsynths make everyone's music sound the same (especially in club music), and any 15-year-old can get a pirated copy into a $200 PC, hardware plays a big role more than ever.

And come on, the X features great effects, especially the Super Filter which is super-juicy. And there is so much possible with LoFi Compressor and others. You either did not dig deep enough, or you just do not dig it ;-)

I agree with Da-Man ... had my X almost four years years and I'm using it more than ever ...

I agree that re-sampling can change the sound a bit ... but selective use of emphasis and normalization can help snap it back, imo ...

And that's one of big reasons I haven't gone FG ... the sampler is the same on FG as X ...

I agree X isn't the best recording device for every genre -- esp. perhaps trance which relies almost exclusively on production and technique to generate interest ...

But what I like about X is it's immediacy ... surprising range of options ... and better-than-acceptable sound quality ...

I've have other recording options than Fan-X -- for instance Logic and MOTU 828mkii -- but in the end I keep coming back to the X ...

TRANCEHAK, I do believe your expectaions are far to high and borderlining on obsurd. I would seriously love for you to show which hardware synth is even close to capable of providing the compression, effects chains and soundset needed for what you are trying to achieve.

I think perhapse you were mislead, as so many are, into thinking that a workstation is a complete studio in a box. You can get very professional resaults from this keyboard. I should know since I am a signed artisit in a metal band that performs both domesticaly and in other countries.

There is no complete hardware solution from any keyboard manufacturer that can do what you are describing. It will be a very long time if ever before we can get the cost of such a device to be affordable. Maybe the closest thing to what you are refering to would be one of the Open-Labs products such as the Neko.

While I do sympathise that the instrument is probably not what you need for what you do, you only represent a very small slice of what is a very large market for music gear. A manufacturer has to try to make their product as desirable to as braod a spectrum of musical styles as possible and in a cost effective way.

The Fantom X is the swiss army knife of the hardware synth world.
