some questions for MV-8000 users...

hi,

i just picked up an MV-8000. although i would eventually like to use it in the studio, the main reason i picked it up is for live use... i'm done with laptops!

i have some specific ideas about what i want to do with it live... before i go digging through all of these manuals and addendums, i figured i would ask here to find out if some of these are even possible:

1 - i understand that you can only use 1 set of stereo inputs at a time... can i use them as 2 separate mono inputs instead? specifically, could i process them separately live? (ie, have a synth going into the L-in, and a mic going into the R-in, with the MV's reverb on the synth, and the MV's multi-FX on the mic)...?

2 - can i set up the knobs and faders to act as fixed/dedicated controls per song, without having to navigate to different areas with the buttons/etc? example: F1 controls CH1 volume, F2 controls CH1 reverb send, F3 controls reverb decay time, F4 controls CH3 chorus send, C1 knob controls MFX Space Echo delay time, C2 knob controls MFX Space Echo feedback amount, etc, etc....?

3 - is there any way to have the Multi-FX be accessible on an FX-send? (what a bummer if not! i would love to have sends for that Space Echo FX.... seems strange that these FX would be limited to be used like an insert)

4 - can i import standard Midi files? i'd like to be able to just transfer midi files created in Logic straight into the MV via USB

any help would be appreciated!

thx

jason

hopefully your not being snubbed by other forum users, but can you not get an answer from roland? They say they reply in one day to emails for support, and they answer the phones i hear too.Maybe a tech can help you if the forum users haven't bought themselves an MV-8000 yet..good luck to you.

1. No.
2. No.
3. No.
4. Yes!

...And if Roland answered all support questions quickly and meaningfully, there would be no need for this forum.

another question!

hi,

here's another question:

For the audio input, I want to be able to control the Reverb & Chorus SENDs from one of the sliders. I would like to be able to do this from the main Song/Sequence page. Or do I have to enter the Mixer page to do this?

I'll use an example to clarify:

I'm playing a song with several Audio and Midi tracks, which I'm mixing on the fly, by selecting different tracks & then tweaking the sliders. I'm also running an external synth (SH-101) into the MV's ext-in. Let's say I want to throw some Reverb on the SH-101 for a few bars... Can I quickly access the ext-in's Reverb Send from the main page, or do I need to select the Mixer page and do it from there?

any help would be appreciated!

thx

jason

You need to select the mixer page.
