To hook up MIDI between your PT rig and your G & for USB file transfer, install the Roland USB Drivers, Librarian and Editor software. You need a USB cable between your rig and G.

Press MENU>System> and go to the Synch/Tempo tab.
All G settings for sync are there. You will find similiar settings in ProTools.

Make sure to catch up by watching some protools sync videos on youtube and you will be up n running in no time.

Hope this helps.

1. make sure your midi cable runs out of the mbox and into the g
2. menu on the g, sync/tempo, set to slave midi,
3 pro tools, midi options, midi clock, make sure you select the fantom as an option.
4 pro tools, create an audio track and you shouls be good to go.

There are a couple ways I do this with my fantomx. I'm using midi, but if the G has usb midi, then the device should show up in pro tools as a midi device. If it doesnt, then you wont be able to without some additional trickery.

What I do is export the song as a standard midi file.

Secondly I import the midi, tempo and beat data into the pro tools project.

Third, I have the Fantom set to sync as a slave via midi.

Fourth, on the X, I clear the song memory otherwise you will get double notes. Additionally, you could just set local to off if you don't want to clear the temporary memory.

Fifth, I create an audio track on Pro tools. Name it whatever it is.

Sixth I arm the track, then solo the track I want to record on from the fantom.

Seventh I hit record, and the audio track is recorded. Once I've completed the recording/conversion, I mute the sequencer track.

Lastly, when I've recorded/imported/converted everything, I delete the midi tracks I no longer need.

The end product is the same song converted from midi to audio.

I hope that helps/
