My First Roland Product!!! YAY

I just ordered a roland fantom x8 as a christmas present for myself. This will be my first time buying a roland product(usually yamaha user).What should I do when i first get it? :P Is there anything I should know about that essential accessories or books or anything?

The FX8 is one of the best Christmas presents you will find under the tree! You will love it! It is a magnificent piece of musical magic! There's tons of invaluable information on this forum regarding the X. Get out your good glasses and read & play! First: get a good quality stand and read the manual, the FAQs,then read all the Fantom X workbooks and then all the Fantom X posts here and get all the Tweakbooks! That's a good start! If you're a visual person, there are video owners manuals and users guides out there you can buy. I am a visual person(somebody who learns better by seeing it done) and they helped. Otherwise, read the manual and then read the FAQ here and don't ask questions which the FAQ answers and you'll fit in like a glove here.

Of course, play with the darn thing. Push buttons and stuff to see what they do. It won't break if you use it.

Can I suggest downstairs ? is that the X8 keys at night will do a lot of "dreamers nightmare bumps", which could be annoying for the other people sleeping ;-)

Any suggestions regarding monitors?I was originally looking at the hs80m but they are out of budget. Now looking at bx8a,krk rokit 8,hs50m,alesis mkII active or bx5a. I am trying to keep the price around 350$ used. Since I just bought a car and a 2,200$ keyboard :P.
You will be a real happy chappie once you start triggering the keys for the tremendous sounds it generates. You will love it !
