I really don't need the keyboard so a cheaper Fantom GR would be ideal, granted that the MIDI-sequencer is advanced like a normal DAW and that it works well as a VSTI with Cubase SX3...

There could be a chance, if you want to wait 2-3 years for Roland to possibly maybe eventually release a rack version + 2-3 years For Roland to possibly maybe eventually fix bugs and release updates for the rack version so you can actually use it.
