I have it synched with the 201 also, it's changing threw the patchs but no sound.

It's playing any other instrument i select in logic just not the 201 editor.

Stupid question here but ... doesn't the SH-201 outputs any sound at all? I mean, if you connect phones or the outputs to a speaker system, don't you get any sound?

Well, In that case I would suggest you to check MIDI channels. If you see the SH changing patches thru the editor it means that it is receving MIDI. But when you select a patch in the editor it sends MIDI System Exclusive messages wich are not channel dependent. Note messages are channel dependent so I assume you just have to check if the Receive channel in the SH is the same you're using to Send in the Logic track as they have to match.

When you're working with an Audio Unit version, SH-201 will also work in USB audio mode, so you should hear it from your Mac's sound card. Not sure but you may also need to set Logic's audio input to SH-201 too.

Hey Art
Sorry, but isn't a Audio Unit something similar to a VST?
Dolld is trying to work with the 201 Editor so I don't understand how it would output sound from the Mac' soundcard. This is how it works with a Win PC. I thought it would work the same way with Macs.

Ok just changed my core audio from my alesis io26 to the sh 201 in logic and it works...

Does that not defeat the purpose of having it as an audio unit plug in?

The purpose of an Audio Unit is that you can edit, automate, save and recall SH-201 parameters from within your host. I have an SH-201 here but haven't tried it this way yet. I assumed the Audio Unit would generate audio as if it was a virtual instrument, but perhaps you need to set it up as an audio input for the host.
