Seeking TR-505 rear panel diagrams, photos, or measurements

14 Oct 2007, 02:52
I just obtained a used Roland TR-505 drum machine which is missing the rear panel that encloses and labels the I/O ports. I am trying to have a replacement panel manufactured, so I just made a bunch of measurements for the dimensions of all of the cutouts as well as the distance between them. I have a few questions in hopes that I might reach someone at Roland with this knowledge, or a fellow TR-505 owner:

* Does anyone already have a replacement rear panel for this machine that I can obtain?
* Can someone tell me what kind of material is used for the original panel?
* Can anyone provide me with full, detailed photos or diagrams of the rear panel? One piece of data that I am missing is the milliamp rating for the DC IN 9V jack.

I have searched many times at images.google.com and flickr.com for photos of this machine, but the majority of the photos are of the front of the machine. Most of the photos that show the back of the machine are to show modifications that have been made. My unit is unmodified.

Thanks for your reply, but the TR-505 image does not have the precision that I need... the labels over the ports are not readable (I know that the DC input is labeled "DC IN 9V ??mA" but I don't know the milliamp amount). Also, the manual you posted is for the SP-505 which is a different and much newer product.

Hi,

I have designed & open sourced a TR-505 replacement back panel. The design file is here:

http://glitchdesk.com/cb/021/

...and can be modified & ordered using free software from Front Panel Express:

The panels I have ordered have turned out very well--nicely engraved aluminum.
