Can anyone recommend a good book or website that explains sound manipulation to a beginner? I just got the Juno G a few weeks ago, my first Synth and when I say "beginner", let's put it this way...I didn't know how to use the Juno until I received the Juno G DVD manual. However, the instructor, Mr. Wills (who was just fantastic) does not go into detail on this due to time limitations.

Fred Welsh's Synthesizer cookbook provides a good explanation of how starting from basic waveforms you can synthesize a wide variety of sounds. It includes information on how to emulate acoustic instruments with graphical illustrations of their audio spectrum (harmonics) and envelopes. The book includes a great many examples or recipes for creating patches from basic waveforms such as sinewaves, squarewaves /pulses and sawtooths, modulating using an LFO, and adjusting lowpass filter and amplitude envelopes. The book even includes a CD with analogue modelled synth VSTi plugin.

When you are ready to do some really neat things with your Juno-G, take a look at Art's tweakbook located here:

If I don't put this in here, we know Art will! I'll just save him a little time so he can wrap up his work on Tweakbook 5 ;)
