RD-700SX <--> Cakewalk Problem
4 Feb 2007, 16:12Greetings.
I'm having trouble with one section of a Cakewalk Instrument Definition File that I've written for my RD-700SX. I can't tell if the problem is with Sonar, the synth, or the synth owner's manual.
In Cakewalk, you use the Bank Select MSB and LSB numbers to choose the instrument bank you wish to use. General Midi 2 Bank 1 has an MSB of 121 and and LSB of 0. General Midi 2 Bank 2 has the same MSB as Bank 1, but an LSB of 1.
Everything works fine until I select patch 261 (Wet Vibraphone) in Cakewalk. It is MSB 121, LSB 1, PC 12. What gets selected on the RD-700SX instead is Celesta at MSB 121, LSB 0, PC 9. Same problem with the next patch in the GM2 Bank 2 sequence. If I select Patch 263 (Wet Marimba), I get Glockenspiel which is the next in sequence in Bank 1 after Celesta.
Either the correct number sequence isn't being transmitted by Sonar, or it's being received wrong by the synth, or the numbers in the synth owner's manual are typo.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Brian
