Longterm Mac Users Advice
16 Mar 2005, 15:03Hi guys (ive been very occupied working to pay my gear). So its good to be back!.
Love the xr, just bought a yammy 01v96v2 digital mixer, and automated everything with cakewalk. (its musical heaven).
Anyway my question is the following:
Im developing a POS (point of sales), for a major restaurant, theyll be 1 server, and 6 to 8 clients (even those of you who dont have the "SLITEST IDEA" what im taking about, Ill get to the point in a moment).
Its an Intranet so clients will be Web developed (And no communication with the "outside" internet virus, hacking, cracking, etc web-related problems).
Need a very, but very small footprint for the client hardware, just saw the Apple Mac Mini, and at least in size, is perfect but... (and know you mac users please help me).
Is mac reliable for a 24/7 work environment?
All opinions all welcome, better those 24/7 users (maybe studio environment).
NOTE:I dont care how great the User Interface is (im designing my own web one, anyway!), and also:all the old Mac evangelist statements.I think Practical, and If it has survived all this time, it must be cause its a great machine. Just want hardware related problems (if any).in a tough working environment.
The macs would just be loaded with microsoft internet explorer (thats all i need, so no strange software).
But have you guys had any heating, hard disk, memory reliability, freezing Problems? (everything that hapens in the x86 world!!! )
I build, sell, repair, develop on x86 platforms(PC's), never even used a Mac
Thank in advance.
p.s.: Did i say the Xr is Musical inspiring? (next purchase will be the rack es)
