JD-08 wobbly faders?

JD-08 wobbly faders?

Upon receiving a brand new JD-08, my first impression of the JD-08 20mm Cutoff fader control was that it was broken. However, all of the 20mm faders on my unit have a considerable amount of left/right AND up/down 'play'. This is accentuated with the shafts 'top hat' plastic cover on. The impact is that the top cover of the slider essentially has some movement before the slider starts to move in its track. I find this very unappealing and somewhat concerning from a reliability perspective. I have many other Boutiques, including two JP-08's which also have a plethora of small 20 mm faders, and I've never found them to be lacking in build quality. Can anyone who has a JD-08 confirm that it is normal for the 20mm faders to feel wobbly? Or perhaps I got a unit built from a batch of bad sliders. Thank you to any Roland fans still on this forum.

I have the JD-08, JP-08, SH-01A, JU-06A, JX-08 and all have sliders. The small sliders on my JD-08 definitely don't react like sliders on any of the others. All of the small sliders top pieces have excessive end play before the slider actuates. The sliders themselves feel fine but the end play of the top pieces vary slider to slider which makes them difficult to tweak precisely. I don't notice side to side play different from the other units, and none have any amount that affects tweaking or causes concern for me. FWIW, all these units use different top pieces for the sliders. The JD uses different top pieces on the small sliders compared to it's large sliders which have a taller top piece that fits better. Additionally, The JU and JX seem to have the most solid fitting top pieces on their sliders. I don't notice any play at all on those. Play was very minimal to non-existent on the others.

Thank you for the helpful reply. I returned the unit due to the wonky sliders. The JD-08 sounds great. The JX-10 sliders are much better and it also sounds great.
