Tip: Master Volume Knob Scratchy

Once you twist the knob a few times, the static sound does goes away but I wondered if clarity suffers a bit.

I solved the immediate problem by removing the plastic knob (just grab hold and pull straight up) and squirting a bit of CRC 2-26 around the shaft where it meets the silver metal casing of the potentiometer.

This stuff is just good to have around - lubes and not harmful to plastic plus improves electrical properties.

Thanks very much, but I guess I am for sure far from brave enough to accomplish that complex manoeuvre when the time comes.

The noise popped up about 8 months ago. Just now got around to fixing it. This way I don't need to send in via pony express (quick horses??) and wait 6 months for the return trip.
