J-X Parameter Mapping for SL1/SL2 Sliders

J-X Parameter Mapping for SL1/SL2 Sliders

I'm running into a limitation of how to map needed parameters of my SL1 and SL2 sliders at a Global System level.

Was the Jupiter-X limited in mapping digital parameter values for "AuxIn/BT InLev" and "USB In Lev", such that they cannot be mapped to anything physical on the keyboard and the only way to adjust volume levels is to menu dive?

Why it matters -- What I am trying to do is to map the SL1 slider to control the gain (0-127) for the USB audio in from Mainstage and the SL2 to the Bluetooth Audio (or AUX in) for sounds coming from the iPad.

That is, I am trying to map those two sliders to ride my levels from external audio sources (Bluetooth iPad, Mainstage audio over USB) that play through the Jupiter-X. It seems like a performance instrument that has these levels in the System Menu could map them easily to a slider as I do with other keyboards. If all the sounds play flawlessly through the Jupiter-X as a performance instrument, it would make sense to want to have some mixer levels on-the-fy instead of menu diving in the middle of a song.

Is anyone able to do that? - I am not seeing the parameters for that mappable and I am looking for a solution or workaround to menu diving when my levels are off from an iPad rhythm or Mainstage program being performed through the J-X.

This capability is premapped to the USB Audio In gain level parameter for a slider in the Fantom but appears not to be possible for the performance instrument Jupiter-X unless I am missing the solution.

Agree, more controller destinations would be good. Also FX often have only two or three controllable parameters.

If not internally assignable, the USB audio IN/OUT levels can be controlled by a SysEx (+ Roland checksum) capable device (MIDI Control Surface, iPad with a MDP2 dedicated layout ^^, you name it).

See the Jupiter-X/Xm MIDI Implementation chart page 8.

Thank you, Folksadure.

Do you know off hand if this MIDI data can be mapped to an expression pedal and being able to adjust this parameter level range 0-127 from a foot pedal?

UPDATE: I have a workaround for this that works for riding USB Audio In levels on the Jupiter since I am using Mainstage. I can do this with the Mainstage profile. If I perform with "SHIFT-MENU" into DAW model then I have the AMP slider mapped to the VOLUME OUTPUT levels in Mainstage, so I can ride levels this way. It's not quite as elegant as mapping the SYSTEM levels for the internal gain, but it certainly works for what I need to do. All in all, I think the USB Audio and Mainstage integration is pretty usable and sounds great.
