What’s coming next??

What’s coming next??

Given Roland’s huge back catalogue of great keyboards that have not been given the software treatment, I was wondering what we would like to see next? It’s been a bit quiet of late, no new instruments over the last couple of months. My vote Roland is for the RS 202 or 303. Thank you in advance!

Since Roland has released the Jupiter X and the JU-06a I'm hoping to see a JX-8P and Juno-60 soon. Both those two appears to be ACB modelled so the conversion to the Roland Cloud might just be around the corner. Fingers crossed!

The JU-06A is ACB. In all likelihood the Juno-60 emulation will be added to Roland Cloud soon. What I’m hoping they do is just add a 60/106 switch to the Juno-106 plugin (rather than a separate plugin). I don’t want it to take up two plugout slots on my System-8.

The Jupiter-X synth engine (Zen Core) does not support ACB. It uses “more efficient” (i.e. less accurate) emulations that can support higher voice counts. So the JX-8P emulation is not ACB either. It’s possible they could still add it to Roland Cloud, but it won’t be possible to use it as a plugout.

I don’t know a lot about the JX-8P. What’s cool about it?

^ regarding what’s cool about the JX8P.

Nice two oscillator (DCO) fat analogue synthesis from about 1984/5 if I recall. The synth on its own needed to have a PG800 programmer attached for multiple parameter access but capable of lush pads, fat basses, incredible brass stabs and lots more.
Long overdue a Roland Cloud entry and given the resurgence of the Boutique range this week with the new JU06a, I really hope a Boutique JX-08 comes to fruition one day.

There used to be an excellent free JX8P vst emulator called PG8X on the web. Might still be around if you look for it. Martin Luders (I think) is the author.

It would also be fun to play with a JP-8080 or V-Synth.

I have a V-Synth GT behind my back, and yes, that'd be a truly welcomed addition to the Cloud catalogue. Hoping that it would get more polyphony in a software rendition. Right now I'm multi tracking the hell out of it :D And then the time it takes to reboot it with another Project. And then recording it again. Yeah, I'd love a software version of it - for sure.

I doubt that. Roland has plenty of motivation to expand the catalog, since it gets people to sign up for recurring revenue.

Well ... I think I got used to them releasing something new every 2 months more or less. Now has been almost 6 months and no new instrument.
So either we are getting something big or nothing at all.
It is just that I have been with Roland for so long and saw them throw away so many products that I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again.

Talking about something big. They might be too busy making hardware synths (Jupiter-X and Fantom) and rewriting code for model synth engines for Jupiter-X and adding JX8p to it.
Not that they needed an excuse...

Yes, I was used to a new product every couple of months and then........

Given the widespread concern amongst many musicians about subscription models, the argument for is constantly updated software, lots of choice and a development line that is “paid for”. If that’s not happening and no indication from Roland on what the pipeline looks like as far as I can see, then it’s a less persuasive business model IMO.

when cloud first started we had lots of Comms on what was coming to entice us to sign up. Nada at mo which is disappointing. But I like the current range (aside from anthology) and just trust that they’re working so hard on the next big update......

Anyone heard whether they’re Catalan compliant?

I unsubscribed from the cloud a few weeks ago. I had some problems with concerto (still) and customer support is an insult in the way they treat you. (very shallow and dont read messages etc)

In the end the CPU load is too big for my liking and I will choose the D50 and JV1080 when the subscription ends ( I had a 2 year plan, I just cancelled renewing)

ABL3 I already have and the junos and jupiters are great, but nothing what other companies can do at a much lower cpu load (Tal UNO-X, Redominator, Uhe etc) And I already have the system8 synth and the intrgra7 so I think I have most of it already in some form.

I’ve a subscription till next March and hope they deliver more before then otherwise I’ll too be content with my loyalty plug ins and call it a day.

I really wish they’d set out a roadmap of products.
