Is there a solution to managing the 1,000 plus sounds?
17 Jul 2019, 17:14Hi,
I have loaded up my JD-Xi with so many songs/patches/sounds that I am finding it almost impossible to find a particular sound I am seeking to blend in with other sounds from other sources to make a multi-track song? Has any body found a way of listing/grouping/sorting/storing the multitude of sounds to make it easier to find a particular type of sound stored with in it to use in a new set?
There are potentially 4 banks of 64 pre-sets A-D = 256 x 4 channels =1,000 plus
Extra Banks sets S - Z i.e. 8 banks of 64 = 512x4=2,000 plus.
I have loaded the additional Axial sets in the Extra banks together with Ultimate patches sets of 720 so these extra banks are rather full.
There are 4 x User Banks: E, F, G and H @ 64 each = 256 x 4 channels. These are about half full.
I use the Jd-Xi mainly via a separate Master keyboard to midi layer a mix of sounds from each.
Yes there a editors available that let you dig in deep to tweak a sound in detail. But they don't really help find a particular type of sound quickly e.g. an organ, a flute a synth riser etc. Yes some form of library would be great within the Jd but it aint got any form of library to group types of sounds.
Someone did in the past produce an excellent spread sheet which listed all the the pre-sets, the names of each song, its 4 channels/parts names, style of song, length, midi address of each part etc. That is the best detailed list of whats in the machine i have seen. It does not of course give me a solution to the 'find-a-sound 'problem?
I am wasting loads of time flicking through the banks to find something suitable and its not practicable.
Do not expect there is an workable solution other than building upon the spreadsheet someone provided previously and categorising each one, one-by-one; but thats a mega job.
It would help to even know which were mono or polyphonic without having to try each one!!
Anybody ???
