Import SMF

Hi guys,
This may be a really silly question, but when I load MIDI files into the "IMPORT" folder of the FA's SD Card, I just dont see them when I use the following

Rhythm Pattern->Hold Shift->Import SMF
Sequencer -> Song Util -> Import SMF

Both cases I see a blank screen. What am I doing wrong here? Do the MIDI files need to be at the root folder of the SD card?

Good morning.
May i know which file estension are you using for SMF file ?
It should be .mid and the file format should be Midi 0.

Yup, this is exactly what I tried, but it shows me no MIDI files at all.

I am pretty sure it is .mid, since I copied them myself. Some of these MIDI files are from my older Korg workstation, and Yamaha arranger, so maybe the format is not MIDI 0. Do you know how to check the format? Note that all these files play (but sound bad) on a PC.

Yes, among many existing tools, you can download "midi converter" a free tool for managing midi files.
Have a look here http://www.gnmidi.com/gnfreeen.htm
Thanks a lot, I will try this now.
BTW, is there anyway I can get a MIDI file that is known to work on other FA's?
For e.g. is there a site similar to Roland Axial, but maybe not necessarily hosted by Roland?
That way I can check if there is really an issue with my FA.

Hello.
Here you may find a midi file generated by FA 08 itself.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone for all your help. Everything works now, and the only problem was that I had created an additional folder within IMPORT. The FA does not read MIDI files unless they are at the root of the IMPORT folder. I had tried to organize the SD card contents by creating a folder named "MIDI" inside IMPORT, and copying my MIDI files there. Once I moved them to IMPORT directly, everything works fine.
